filling primer tubes

The Hornady 1911 tube filler does not provide for loading multiple tubes. Once a tube is full, there is no way provided to plug it. Effectively, you stop every hundred loads to fill a primer tube, Which is probably a good thing as a break to check everything over and regain concentration. Two tubes are provided for each size, so I would be interested in methods to secure at least one extra tube.

I just stand the filled tube up against a little corner by my bench. If I'm doing a big reloading session (for me anyway) I fill the tube on the press, then fill the two tubes and that gives me 300. That's about the max I want to load at one time. I go sorta slow checking in each case for powder fill before hand placing a bullet as it goes into the seating die.

I can't remember where I saw it but I did see a video somewhere about the Hornady loader. It was what caused me to buy one.

The electric Dillon RF 100 primer feed accessory...works real well / ...but seriously, filling the feed tubes manually is not that big a deal.

After reading this string, I went out the new Gainesville Cabelas and picked the Frankfort Arsenal unit.

... works like a champ.

I found a way to secure at least on extra loaded primer tube by using mini Velcro straps on the mast of the case feeder. It is a loose wrap with the pinned end of the tubes resting on the high mount base below. I have it adjusted so that loaded tubes can be removed without opening the straps. One strap high and one strap low so the tubes can't escape easily without pulling on them. This would not work well, if at all, unless the press was on a high mount as shown.

I use the FA Vibra Prime. Fills a primer tube in less than 20 seconds. I've found that mine unit does not like Winchester primers, these tend to flip and/or get jammed. CCI primers work very well for me. For $25 I'm not complaining.

Could be an age thing, I suppose, but it takes a steady hand and some manual dexterity to peck at primers. I prefer taking the time, if actually longer, to use the vibrating tray to load tubes. I wasn't so sure until figuring out how to use the thing without fumbling with it.
