I see two problems with the S&W Model 10 you're considering:
1) At $370, it's overpriced. It might be a good buy for a collector who wants a 5" nickel-plated M10 in NIB condition, but you should be able to find a lightly used 4" blued M10 for at least $100 less.
2) A 5" barrel could be a little too inviting for a bad guy thinking about snatching your fiancee's gun. For someone with more upper body strength it might not be an issue (and some old-time lawmen liked longer barrels for use as impact weapons), but IMHO a slightly-built woman needs to give weapon retention extra thought.
