Feinstein is speaking about the AWB..

I've been watching. The true Asses of Evil (Diane, Teddy and Chuckie) are beside themselves that Prez Bush hasn't 'fufilled his promise' to extend the ban. According to the three of them, Ak's are gonna be sold to terrorists on streetcorners and those streets are gonna run red with blood. Fienstien stated that the Armalite ad promising a free flash hider with each new rifle purchased 'made her sick to her stomach'. Teddy said that semi auto weapons are 'killing machines with no real value', this dispite the fact that his two brothers were killed with a bolt rifle and a revolver, respectively. Chuckie lamented that some of us even want to own a bazooka or a tank. You're damn skippy! ;) All of this would be laughable if it weren't abundantly clear that there are folks in this country that believe their tripe.

I did like being called an ideologue and on the fringe.

AWB bashing started last night with a Democart senator from Texas saying that automatic weapons would be legal to buy on the 14th. When are the senators that support the AWB going to set the record straight about the AWB?

Senator DIFI is NOT a gun controller, she is a GUN BANNER, this from her own mouth.

"If I could have gotten 51 votes, it would have been Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them all in".

Since when are BASIC CIVIL-CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS subject to a simple majority vote?

The assault weapons ban is plainly another step in the direction of banning firearms, ALL FIREARMS. Get on your congress and senate critters, and keep on them over this. Remember also that no new gun control proposals are in any way acceptable, and while we are at it, don't forget all the existing laws and regulations already in the statute books, things that need to be REPEALED.

Shumer referred to AWB opponents as "a few ideologues". I prefer to be called a constitutional conservative.

Kennedy took the floor and immediately equated the topic of "assault weapons" to semiautomatics in general. 'Easy to see where he's headed. At least this time he didn't speak long enough to get into an embarassing rant.

These DEM spokespeople have now made the AWB sunset all Bush's fault.

Unfortunately the game clock is running out and they now have more important things upon which to focus. They should have put more effort into having a productive session earlier.

There is no point in picking Feinstein's presentation apart, because it would be preaching to the choir ad nauseum. They just don't get it. All they want is control, and the Constitution won't get in their way, unless we remind them with voting power. The Supreme Court is certainly no help.

The leftist methodology for years has been to lie often enough that fiction becomes fact. The American people are (finally) beginning to recognize this charade, save for a few hardcore foaming at the mouth America haters, whose days are mecifully numbered. If they happen to extend this goofy AWB or some other inane firearm restriction, they may very well have a compliance problem. Some of us will continue to do what we want anyway.

Bravado sounds good, but what if they next increase funding for enforcement and pick people off one by one, putting more effort into harassing patriots than criminals?

1-800-839-5276 will get you the Capitol switchboard. Call your elected things every day until this is over. They WILL be keeping records of the callers' positions. Just keep it short, concise, and pollite. Even if you live in New Jersey or California and you feel it will do no good, call them. Call the Republican Majority leaders as well (Delay, Frist)--tell them you will start voting your conscience instead of lesser-of-two-evils if they let this through.

The more restrictive the law, the lower the rate of compliance. If 'enforcement' does not know who has what, they will be sorely limited in their 'enforcement' activities. Unless, of course, they want to start door-to-door searches, by which time all bets are off.

Senate adjourned till tomorrow - Homeland Defense appropriations w/ scads of amendments.

I've been away - I read here that the usual suspects ran their oral machines. Should I assume that nothing helped them progress?

Let me know please.

It won't make any difference in how I vote for President, if that's what you mean. An AWB renewal is better than helping John Kerry in a backhanded sort of way. There is more to this. The Dems know perfectly well that if Bush signs such a bill now, it would be political suicide. If it goes to Bush allowing a line item veto, I think he will veto it, perhaps insisting that it be debated separately. That would suit me fine, since that is what I wrote to the White House and suggested months ago. If they think it's so important, it should be reexamined and justified all over again as a new bill next year, not some late Friday night slam dunk that puts Bush's future in jeopardy. If it opens a hole in the dike for a few months, that will or will not validate the arguments from those who feel an AWB ban is so essential. It would also allow Bush, if reelected, to be both active and objective about the issue.

I am more concerned about pending legislation showing not one but six constitutional amendment proposals. That's what we need...open season on the Constitution. Don't think Feinstein and Shumer haven't thought about that option.

When the AWB expires we need to keep close watch on what goes on. Just like the CCW in various states. When nothing happens we need to be able to document it. Prove beyond a doubt that these creatures are fueled by hate and not safety. Prove they do not have the nations best interests in mind. Ask just what interest they do have in mind. Are they looking for a disarmed citizenry to help their accomplises ? We can use this to our advantage but being kind and gentle won't work.

Henney penney the sky is falling I know it hit me on the head. :barf:

On Tuesday the blood will flow in the streets, right after the gun stores open and all the gang bangers and suburban housewives, get their free machine guns, Uzis and street sweepers. :D

Maybe, just maybe, the great unwashed, which includes more than a few of our fellow gun owners, will wake up to the facts of life.

1. Trap and Skeet Shooters looking down their noses at pistol and rifle shooters is a sure recipe for defeat. Ditto for rifle shooting looking down on pistol shooters, and by the way, "sacrificing" machine gun shooters only helps our mortal enemies.

2. The ultimate goal of the anti gunners, which they have publically stated often enought so that they should long since have come to be believed is simply THE TOTAL PROSCRIPTION OF FIREARMS. In case you were wondering, yes, they really mean it.

3. Re Gun Control, a more honest discription/definition would be GUN ELIMINATION. Don't forget Virginia, that that shotgun of yours is included on the list of things to be eliminated. Put in other terms, he that lays down with dogs gets up with fleas.

4. This fuss and furor on the part of the anti's over "assault weapons" as they describe them, is quite similar to the fuss and furor over the Saturdaynight Special, the same re Plastic Pistols that would escape detection, ditto for Cop Killer Bullets, simply a smoke screen behind which they continue their dastardly deeds. Don't let them distract you.

5. What might prove even more interesting is the following. Though quite a few Americans own guns, a greater number do not, and in addition, have little to no interest therein. What we need to do, and I wonder if this is doable, given the idiocy that one hears from some amongst us, is to show this majority how lacking in substance the anti gunneres are. In addition, we must demonstrate that the antis lie like that proverbial carpet.

Hey, alan, suppose...

[tongue-in-cheek]

we take a leaf from the books of those (few) localities that have a law requiring every adult to possess a firearm and make THAT the law nation-wide?

We could start with everyone in the work force, then work up to the able retireds, then down to the 18-year-old high school and college types.

A short training session required, more highly suggested.

Certain categories ineligible - the usual suspects, the hopelessly lost, the habitually unemployed, etc. The rest of the country will "take care" of these folks' "defense" until they get off their butts (which I'd expect would be shortly).

[/tongue-in-cheek]

What do you say - think it'll fly? :D

The true Asses of Evil (Diane, Teddy and Chuckie) are beside themselves that Prez Bush hasn't 'fufilled his promise' to extend the ban.

I must have slept through my high school civics class the day we learned about law making. I always thought that Congress enacted new laws and extended old ones, not the President.

Can the President make laws now  Maybe Diane and the boys would like to give W the power to make laws so he can do stuff like that, since these fine Senators don't seem to be capable of doing anything except whine.

Ironbarr:

Sounds like a pretty good idea to me.

Other than Kennesaw, Georgia, what other towns/cities so require, or even advise?
