There has always been MTV.

They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter.
 
Actually forgot may be a bad word as most never knew it in the first place. Kinda scary to think these people will be running things eventully.
 
Suprising but true. I'm only 30, but when I go to class, I feel ancient. I'm a first year college Freshman this year, so I'm right in with all these folks. One thing that never changes is all the eighteen year-olds asking me to buy them beer. I did that kinda stupid stuff at eighteen. Some of you didn't have to, eighteen was the legal age for many of you.
 
Heck,
1. When I was in High School, hand held calculators were a rarity, and cost over $100 for a basic model.
2. We had to know how to use a slide rule for calculations in my Physics class.
3. I was in high school when cars started using catalytic convertors and unleaded gas.
4. Our high school had a time-share computer terminal, and only one of them! It ran at 8 characters per second, and read paper tape.
5. When I was taking computer programming (Fortran IV) in college, we had to enter our programs using punchcards.
6. PCs did not exist!
 
I think you still have about four more years till all of that applies. I was talking to a 17 yr old yesterday and he remembered Mask, Transformers, and Mr. T. There is hope. He was clueless about the "Smurfs" though.

Ledbetter, I like "Bonanza" -- it was one of my favorite shows ... I even was going to trying out for the part of Adam when he left the show ...

If it is any consolation, I remember too. In fact I used to have a photographic memory. About four years ago I ran out of film.

Black&white TV? when and where I was growing up there was really NO tv! Well, you could pick up the one Puerto Rican station (in spanish) IF you put up at least an 85 foot antenna! All radios had tubes ( portables used EXPENSIVE batteries), and even tape was strictly reel-to-reel. St. Thomas had its redeeming qualities, though;Perfect climate, safe (though sometimes boring) streets, and a world where imagination was the key to amusement.

I'm only 24, but as I remember I WAS the remote control for a long time. I still remember UHF knobs and rotary phones, and records, and 8tracks, and MY transformers were made outta metal. :)

As a consolation, most high school graduates of the class of '00 won't remember who our first president was, who we fought in the Civil War (snicker ;)), their ABC's, or what mucic sounded like before the Back Street Boys (NKOTB are oldschool).

They will remember to give shout outs and big ups to their homies Ernesto and Regio on Wild 106, that import V6's rule at the dragstrip and look especially cool when lowered and purple tint is applied, Baby boomers are Yuppies, not hippies and money now rules over sex and drugs (unless you have Viagra), that high salaries and said money should be earned without any real accomplishment or talent.

Oh, let me think of somemore and I'll get back...The Britney Spears/Backstreet Boys crap has got to stop though. You just can't buy any ol' piece of sh*t the music industry coughs up. This is a sad time for popular culture... :( Thanks Pepsi
 
I was born in 1978 and know most of it. don't know what planet mork was from, but he was funny.

But, they know pac-man and donkey kong, because the keep getting re-released. they just don't know pac-man and donkey kong in its original form and they also know that BETA is /*slightly buggy software*/ but they don't know BETAMAX is /*the video tape format that was sony properitary.

everyone knows /*even todays kids*/ that you can't beat detroit steel off the line without a lot of work and a lot of money. thats why they need NOS and stuff like that.

a little aside I use /*...*/ to add comments to what I am writing because I write to much 'C' code at work and (...) is just to confusing to me know.

I am 27, remember most of that list. Never cared for designer jeans, though, and for the lad who did not know about the smurfs, no great loss.
I was watching the Sid and Marty Kroft Hour when Reagan was shot, kinda angry at dad for turning the channel on me.
 
A perfect example of why anyone under age 50 should not be allowed to vote. It takes at leas 50 years to accumlate enough experience and wisdom to vote in the best interest of the country.
 
Like C.R. Sam I also listened to the news on the radio when Pearl Harbor was attacked on Sunday December 7, 1941. Sad day!

Yesterday was my birthday......I'm now officially 68 years old......where in the heck has all the time gone?

To those of you who remember the Harbor back in '41, how do you view the current Chinese trade thing? Back in the late 30's we were all hot to trade with Japan, and some of the steel we sold them came back in the form of planes and bombs. You see any similarity now, other than the fact both are being overseen by a crippled Democratic president (one physically, one or both mentally depending on your view?).
