feel safer?

redworm Americans never thought muslims would fly jets into the world trade center. But they did.....
There are a number of action movies from the last two decades of the previous century that would disagree with that. The method itself was new but the idea that extreme right Muslims would be willing to carry out suicide attacks has been in popular culture for thirty years. It wasn't just a lucky guess, it's been happening for a long time.

Imagine if millions had died...

So 3000 dead does'nt count. Nice! And oh we showed em how. This is silly left wing Micheal Moore style propaganda.

I see you defending these kill happy nuts and then you go and blame America for it guy. Thats all I hear from you.

I think America is far greater than your view of her.

Actually, before the 9-11 attacks, on an Episode of The Family Guy, Baby Stewie and Brian, the dog, create a diversion to sneak onto an airplane. Just before the cut screen Stewie "looks" at the camera and says "Let's hope Osama Bin Laden never learns that one." Then they show Osama sneaking onto a plane. :D :D :D

They cut that scene out of the DVD release.

> inept response to an actual homeland disaster when it does occur (Katrina)

What does Social Welfare have to do with Homeland Security?

FEMA is under HS authority but is supposed to operateindependant of HS... The military and the LE agencies (Border Patrol) but not welfare socialist programs. Where the hell was the Education Department when all of this happened?

YES, I feel safer because I have faith that the Intelligence Community is able to do its' job after years of having their hands tied. The Patriot act has freed them up and the 911 incidents have fired them up and the President has jacked them up and I believe they are working behind the scenes to keep us safe... THEY ARE US CITIZENS TOO!

Even if the terrorists get through to us again, it won't be for lack of effort on the part of Homeland Security.

Isn't it Homeland Security that decided it was safe to have 3 packs of matches on a plane, but not four? Or to have one butane lighter, but not two? I forget the real numbers, but it was some stupid, meaningless limit.

Didn't Homeland Security recently decide that scissors were suddenly OK on airline flights?

How about shooting the guy who didn't take his medicine? I'm not arguing that they weren't justified, only that the Air Marshalls only factually killed a kook. Then ANOTHER kook went bazoo on a taxiing plane and got so far as to open the door and hop out onto the tarmac, demonstrating that SOME planes don't even HAVE Air Marshalls.

We knew that before, but it's now been dramatized on TV worldwide.

I don't feel all that safe.

I say leave the middle east to its own devices. Offer to jewish settlers to come (back, in some cases) to the US. Let everybody who chooses to stay settle their holy problems, and then buy the oil we need from whoever is left.

Then take a strict "not on our soil" stance regarding attacks of any kind.

This removes moslem motive and puts our defense money into actual DEFENSE.

bozos and boondoggles

WASHINGTON, Feb. 9 — In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Bush administration officials said they had been caught by surprise when they were told on Tuesday, Aug. 30, that a levee had broken, allowing floodwaters to engulf New Orleans.

"There is no question in my mind that at the highest levels of the White House they understood how grave the situation was..." "...the problem, was the handicapping of FEMA when it was turned into a division of the Homeland Security Department in 2003."
NYT, 2/9/06
____________________________________________

We have spent hundreds of billions of dollars on a giant government boondoggle. The existing security and intelligence in place in 2001 would have been sufficient to prevent 9-11 had the governmental intelligence and law enforcement bozos even bothered to talk with one another.

Bush has turned 9-11 into a giant money-sucking boondoggle that threatens the financial security of all but the most wealthy Americans (including Bush). Our borders remain open. Americans die every day in a land 1/2 a world away on some sort of 'nation-building' junket. (Or is a 'great crusade' ?) It's insane. And if any of it makes you feel safe, then I must conclude you are one confused and/or disturbed puppy.

Ask me what I really think about it :D

marks655 - This thread was purportedly about feeling safer as it relates to the Dept. of Homeland Security. You have since turned it into your own personal GWB b!+*#fest. I'm closing it for thread veer. If you'd like to try again and not hijack your own thread, feel free.
