Federal 223 Brass

Japanese SCOTCH!?!?! That's just not RIGHT, somehow! That's like...like...like a BERDAN PRIMED .45 ACP CASE! Perish FORBID!

ECONOMIST, personal tastes are something that need no governing, but generally speaking, things like water and ice, in the context of drinking scotch, generally have a "very low marginal utility function". That's as close to "language equivalence" as I think I can get, on the matter.

I should post this in the for sale section of this forum but I'll try it here. I have several hundred F C 223 cases. Anyone interested for the price of shipping only?

I've heard about Japanese scotch but never have tried it. I too prefer the peaty single malts which mostly come from the island of Islay (pronounced Ila). This island is off the west coast of Great Britain.

So being really new to the whole 223/5.56 round, can I assume this is the "crimp ring" that needs to be removed from the brass?

I consider myself at "operator" status when it comes being cheap.

if you can get cheaper than a Philips bit, by all means, you win. i'll admit I have since upgraded to a countersink putting me in the hole @ $8.

below, crimp on left, two right removed with countersink. I have yet to have an issue with this method, but as I am still a newbie at fours years, not saying I won't pop a primer some day.

Wish I had read this earlier. I just loaded 250 rounds of 556. 246 were crimped cases. I used an RCBS chamfer tool. Turned by hand of course. I have cordless drills, phillips head bits, and a counter sink.

I guess I should look at the bright side of this. You only have to de-crimp once. I don't know why I pick up range brass and put myself through this. I guess I'm either a cheap so-n-so or I have a brass addiction.

I have more 556 brass than I'll ever wear out. I found some new LC brass on the cheap a couple of years ago and bought 2000 pieces. It was annealed and no crimp. Do I break it out and load it? Noooooo, I use the free stuff I pick up at the range. Glutting for punishment I guess :(
