Favorite SxS double barrels?

well boys my favorite is a 16ga. LC Smith,, a friend,,hunting buddy,,adopted brother gave it to me,,he had it restocked to fit me,,and gave me the wood he had removed,,turned out very nice,, and the gun shoots like it is part of me

i went over to see him when my father passed and he told me he has bladder cancer,,and for some reason i don't think he is telling me the whole story about what is REALLY going on,,,so this gun will always be on the cherished table,,yes i have a couple other favorites,, but this one just took the top spot

we have spent many many hours in the deer woods and bird coverts together and shot over some fine,,,fine short hairs,,,many hours on the clay fields,, and just untold hours of just pall-in around and harassing each other

ahhhh to go back 40 years an do it again

just thought i would share with you guys

Most people hate them, and maybe that's why I have a soft spot for them...

Springfield (Savage) 511...

Butt ugly, utilitarian, and inexpensive...

Strip that plastic coating off the wood, apply a few coats of boiled Linseed, and they are almost 'homey' feeling...

Comfy, like old socks...

LC Smith, Parker, and some of the Belguim made doubles.
I've also owned a Winchester Model 24 it was a nice shotgun but not as sleek as those mentioned above.
Best Regards

Well......

The favorite that I own is a 1910 Ithaca Flues that I put a box of shells through still about once per year on a dove hunt.

FAV SXS

Let me get my sxs cents in.1926 NID 16ga and Jamart&Cie circa 1930's 12ga.Took them both birdhunting in Nov and they performed flawlessly!

Granddad's SxS's...

Remington 1984 and Parker VH.

Anything in a 16ga and open choke for grouse, ( okay, I have a 20ga O/U Red label with Skt & Skt.)

For 42 years now, THE shotgun for me has been an AYA Matador 2, in 20 ga, with imp/mod 26in barrels and a single selective trigger and vent rib. I got lucky long ago. The Matador was a consumer-priced AYA. But excellent.

That said, a bunch of shotguns have come and gone. I still love the Stevens 5100, as said, an honest gun. Just picked up an Sears 12ga, by AYA back in the 60's. Said to be imp/mod, but marked mod/full. A commodity gun, I think, but it just took a pigeon. :)

As I age, these heavier guns will often be left at home, but the AYA 20 will always be invited.
