Favorite Semiauto caliber????

45ACP. It is very versatile, accurate and easy caliber to reload. Also, there are alot of good guns available in this caliber.

The .40 *&*. It is accurate, and effective. It is the best of both worlds, big bullet, fast bullet. The .45ACP rates really close behind it.

"Out here, due process is a bullet"

The 9x19mm.

It is one of the most efficient cartridges, and available in some of the most size efficient handguns ever built.

I even like it in carbines... :D

Make mine lean, mean, and 9x19!

.45 ACP is my favorite (very accurate, easy to shoot) followed closely by the 9mm (accurate, cheap).

I have NO need or like for the .40 Snappy and Weak (if it ain't broke, don't fix it). The old (.45 acp and 9mm) are all I need!

Another vote for 40S&W. It is the perfect combination of umph and speed all in one. I am a bit drunk now though so ask me tomorrow OK?

.45 ACP: Proven stopper, in a low-pressure design, with lots of loads, essentially universally availability, particularly accurate, and at reasonable prices. Why discard a round that has become the true "standard of comparison" for semiautomatics during the last ninety years?

.45ACP, hands down.
It's a big, fat, heavy bullet which gives good penetration w/o exceptional recoil. It's also not a high pressure cartridge, and this means long case life if you're a reloader (which I am.)
In my experience, the .45ACP is probably the most forgiving cartridge to reload for. I have some cases that have been reloaded and shot so many times, you cannot read the headstamps anymore. Usually, case necks will crack before the cases stretch enough to need trimming.

I'm quite partial to my various Makarovs, so it would have to be the 9X18!!

The more I shoot my .45, the more I like it, so I would have to say that this is my favorite.

I like 9mm, but it won't take a bowling pin from the table like a .45 will.

.22 also ranks right up there, as it allows a LOT of shooting for only a little bit of money.

Beware the man with the S&W .357 Mag.
Chances are he knows how to use it.

Another vote for the .40 S&W here.
If I had to select only one pistol for self defense, it would be my Glock 27. I've had it for over three years and it's accuracy still surprises me.
The .40 is a big, fast bullet. Power, for "just in case".

9mmNATO

World-wide avaliability. Better chance of getting through soft armor. Used in most SMGs.

.45ACP for common hand guns, reasons as stated above.

9X32R for really gettin their attention.

Sam...just tween knaps

Favorite pistol cartridge?

45ACP of course. I didn't know they made semiauto pistols in other calibers. ;)

OK guys, I'm gonna make a point here ... caliber ... say what? You mean cartridge?

Jaykay397, this isn't aimed at you, we all do it. Now it may seem anal, but if we are going to rag on the antis about not knowing anything about guns, about Feinstein's reference to the damage caused by LARGE CALIBER handguns, etc., then the least we can do here on The Leading Online Forum for Firearm Enthusiasts, TFL, is get our terminology right.

No slam at any one person, but really at all of us. The language is important. Favorite Semiauto Caliber? Large, thank you. Favorite Semiauto chambering (cartridge)? Why, .45 ACP.

Favorite semi-auto pistol cartridge is .357 SIG.

It's my favorite because it is extremely accurate and is (so far) totally reliable in my SIG 226.

Easy, .22 lr. Plentiful, cheap, accurate, no recoil, low noise. FUN! If you mean centerfire then I would say 9mm. Plentiful, cheap, accurate, low recoil and I happen to have some really neat pistols to shoot it in like a SIG P210 and Browning GP Comp.

.45ACP
History proven and I like the BIG slow moving bowling ball effect!!!
Would you rather get hit with a 100mph baseball or a 30mph bowling ball???

If language is important, "large" is not a caliber either. :D
