Ruger has a lot of models of its Mark series .22lr. I know they have a Mark I, II, and III .I know they have a standard, target, hunter, 22/45 and you can get bull barrels, fluted barrels, ect.

What is you favorite and why? Don't be shy with pics either:D

mine is my favorite:D

No mine.

I liked my Dads so much I bought my own. Not really a match setup, but finally got it to range and was a tack driver.

great gun. very solid.

I prefer MKII, 6 7/8" barreled guns; either the Government model for the range or the heavy tapered barrel Target model out in the field. I like the longer sight radius of these guns.

If I do go with the shorter barreled guns (not very often any more), I like the 5.5" bull barrel guns in either the steel frame or 22/45 version (again MKIIs). I just don't like the look of the skinny barreled guns in this size.

Sorry - nothing spectacular about my Ruger .22/45 to show in a picture.

Well, maybe a "try to guess the number of rounds fired through it".
Since it's a Range Queen, w/the exception of a tiny spot of wear on the barrel, there's no indication the gun has in excesss of 150,000 rounds through it.

As to why I like it...

- Take a bright shine penny and hold it up. Now, hold up two more.
If you cradle them in between a couple of staples - like this \O/, @ one time I could run all three on a single magazine (10 shots) - shooting seated w/no rest for the gun. @ 50 yards. Yes - yards not feet.
The how of it isn't difficult. Take a wire brush to the penny so it reflects sunlight & shoot at it with the sun at your back.
You need to know where the gun shoots @ 50 yards.
You raise the front sight up just enough to eliminate the glare, then center the post between the rear sight.
Hitting one penny, once you get used to where to sight isn't bad.
Running three of them is a chore though.
It took me an entire Summer of shooting to be able to run three. I neve made it to being able to run 4 on one magazine.

- Suspend a spent 12 ga on a piece of dental floss. Again, @ one time I could dance the case with 9 shots, then cut the dental floss and drop the case to the ground. @ 25 yards - yes yards, not feet.
It looks and sounds imprssive, but, it's not all that difficult. Honestly. The floss holds the shell out at an angle. Your point of aim is right where the shell "kicks out" to the side.
I tried it with string, but, the string is visable @ 25 yards and caused a distration.
Dental floss, being invisible @ that distance, didn't throw off my concentration.

- Take a sheet of 8x11 paper and run it out to ~ 25 feet. Fire a sinlge .45 shot into it. I could almost get two full magazines (20 shots) through that hole w/out touching the sides.
That's the most difficult of the three to accomplish.
The magazine change really throws off my timing. I was never able to get all 20 shots in there.
Still a very fun challange on indoor paper target only ranges.

Anyhow - I found the above three very doable w/the .22/45.
Not so much so with the Mark II, the S&W 22s or the Buckmark(s).
Maybe - if my High Standard had adjustable sights (it's a Sport king w/fixed sights) it could do the same - or better.

Fun to shoot and easy to tinker with: VQ hammer, trigger and sear; MK II bushing, removed the mag disconnect and the LCI; added custom grips a Burris Fast Fire red dot and a VQ comp. It's a real pleasure to shoot!!

I love my MKII 4.75" standard barrel. Picked it up for $200 a few years back. Runs flawlessly and is more accurate than I am. I prefer it over the Mark IIIs I have shot. Easier to take down and better build quality IMHO.

Mine is the most basic of them all,,,

Naomi is the 4.5" slabside barrel 22/45 Mk-III.

Naturally it's my favorite Ruger,,,
Because it's my only Ruger.

But the reason it's one of my favorite pistols is because it's so basic,,,
Non-adjustable rear sight makes me simply aim,,,
Rather than futz with the adjustment.

The shorter barrel is perfect for practicing my point shooting,,,
This is the pistol I pick up when I'm in the mood for quick playful shooting.

There is nothing about this pistol to blame poor shooting on,,,
Except myself. ;)

It's like it's the S&W model 10 of semi-auto plinking pistols.

Mine's the MKIII 5 1/2" bull barrel. It's the first one I've owned and I love it. It came with the rail and I'm considering putting a scope on it. Sorry, no pic.

Here is my 22/45 I picked up a month ago. I changed the 5.5" blue BB to a 4.5" Paclite threaded version with a green fiber optic sight. I changed out the Cocobolo wood grips to some Coyote Tan G10 1911 grips. This is a blast to shoot and very accurate. I have a SS Sparrow suppressor that I'm waiting on the tax stamp to come back. By far my favorite gun, along with my 10/22! :D

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic, the colors are way off.

I only have one - a Govt. Target model passed on to me by my late father.

I only have one picture of it - taken in a holster I made for it last winter.

I like my Government Target MK II with the wood grips - encourages the high grip that is best for my 1911s

You guys are making me wish I'd bought a Ruger instead of the S&W 22A. These are really beautiful guns. Stealth01, that thing is gorgeous!

I've owned two MKII 5.5" bull barrel, one blue and the other stainless. Still have the latter. Tens of thousands of photos on the hard drive and can't find one of the Ruger. It's all stock except for the Volquartson target grips.
