Favorite Revolver

I'm gonna have to go against the grain on this one. The only revolver I want right now is a Taurus 605. It has a slightly longer barrel (2.5" instead of 2" or 3") to make it look a little more even and to get a little extra velocity over a 2".

I would also have it Magna-Ported with those little parallel slots on each side of the barrel.

Ahh,
Ben

S&W Model 24, 44 Speicial, 3" Barrel, Round Butt, Magnaported, Lew Horton Special circa 1983. Use Gerogia Arms ammo w/200 Gold Dot HP, 44 cal version of the "Flying Ash Tray".

If I could have just one revolver it'd probably be either a S&W Model 681 or 686. A practical gun, with plenty of load options.

But for general shooting pleasure, I'd pick a S&W Model 624 (.44 Special) with 6 1/2-inch barrel, or even a Model 10 with a 6-inch barrel (truly an old-timer). I believe they're less all-around than the L-frame, but I sure do like 'em! :)

Without a doubt, it would have to be my
custom J.D. Jones, SuperRedhawk .44mag "Beast".

This is just a pleasure to shoot, with little if no more recoil than a .45 ACP, with it shooting full powerhouse .300 grainers out of it.

Basically, they took the Ruger SuperRedhawk,
put on a Shilen custom barrel *total length 6 1/2 inches*, action job, tightened the forcing cone, added a trigger stop, magna-ported the top of the barrel, and took off the "warranty address, that comes on all rugers". Signed it, and sent it back to me.

Without a doubt, this is my favorite Wheel gun, I can carry it for defense or take it to the woods, and oh boy is it a pleasure to shoot.

Colt New Service DA Revolver. Mine is a 1917 Army model, which takes the 45acp cartridge through full moon clips, however.. another one in 357 would be really nice.

I will vote for the smith 57 also. As this is the only revolver I own anymore it must be my favorite. Lost all interest in my .357s after I got this gun but I am more of a auto person anymore.

I would have to choose a Ruger Red Hawk .44 MAG six inch barrel. Kinda hard to conceal, but if that's the only choice I have, I guess that I would go with it.

Just as there is no such thing as too much fun,
there is no such thing as owning just one gun!!!

Off my meds (quit smoking), armed to the teeth, and loose on an unsuspecting society!!!

Can't pick just one.There's so many good'uns
out there.

The first Model Trooper here would get a nod for carry, built on the same frame as the Python, it's buttery smooth action and accuracy make a dependable package.Did alright at PPC with it too.

OTOH, there's been some excellent K-frames in my personal history that deserve mention, including one 2 1/2" bbled Model 19.

But then there was that Colt Lawman, a test bed for many variations before someone talked me out of it.

Or, Pop's 38/44 Outdoorsman, which helped me learn rapid, accurate DA fire way back when.

Or the Python, a 4 inch nickeled masterpiece made in the early 60s. Almost too pretty to shoot. Almost...

For hunting, the Super Blackhawk.

Greetings! I am new to this board but have been enjoying it for the last few weeks in read-only mode.

My fav revolver has to be the S&W 686+ with the 3" barrel. I'll be picking mine up this Friday! Can't wait!

Has anyone else noticed the huge number of 686 Smiths that have been listed? Theres a very good reason for that. I have a 686 2.5 inch barrel and it is a dream to shoot. But I would have to opt for a 625 Smith & Wesson .45acp with 4" barrel, if I could have but one handgun. But of course Ruger Security Six stainless steel .357s are forever guns too. So many guns so little money :(

I also saw a S&W 625 4" barrel in .44 special for 399.95. Is that a good price? It appears to be.

So right, so many guns, so little moola.

Of the guns I own, it's gotta be the stainless, fully lugged, 4" barrel, Ruger GP-100 over either the S&W or the Rossi.

Of all the guns I could own, a pretty blue Colt Python .357 with a 4" barrel would do just fine. I hate packing those 6" barrels around...

Triggers exist to be pulled... again and again.

Ruger GP100. 3-inch barrel, fixed sights, and compact Ruger santoprene grips.

Simply the toughest relvolver out of the box that can be had. I'd opt for a trigger job though.
