Had forgotten this until last night. The TV series Lonesome Dove was on. One of the characters, Augustus (Robert Duvall) a Texas Ranger was asked about a Latin phrase on their wagon. His friend Woodrow (also a Ranger) wondered if the Latin might make someone mad, if they could read it. Augustus says “I welcome the thought of being robbed by someone who can read Latin. Just once I’d like the chance to shoot at uh educated man.
