Favorite Non-U.S./Soviet Military Rifle 1960s-Present

The Guatemalans were using the Galil when I was there in the early 80's. I can tell you that for sure and for certain.

My curiosity being piqued, I did a quick search and found 23 other nations, large and small, who issue the Galil as a standard weapon, or for certain applications.

SO, for 1960s & later designed and fielded arms, what does that really leave us to choose from?

Something wrong with the HK G36, which arms both Germany and Spain, to my knowledge?

FN SCAR and FN F2000, but those aren't standard issue I think, so they might be excluded.

SAR-21 assault rifle from Sigapore

Vektor CR-21 assault rifle (South Africa), although I think its action is derived from the Galil, hence originally from the AK

Korean Daewoo K1/K2 are derived from the M16, so I guess they are excluded

My favorites are the HK G36K and the SIG 551/552

Are we restricted to guns introduced after 1960 or just guns still in use after 1960? If it's the latter, then my vote is a tossup between the FN-49 and the Stg. 57. If we're restricted to rifles introduced after 1960, then I'll bend the rules a bit and go with the AN-94 (it was the Russian Federation and not the Soviet Union by 1994 and the rifle is standard issue to Spetsnaz:p).

Okay, how about the 1950s instead?
(That way, the FAL still qualifies for the thread.)

Also, the Sig 551/552 was not issued until the 1980s or 1990s.

What........no AUG?????

I thought sure the AUG would lead the pack. Nothing remotely like it, that combined the bull pup, w/ integral optic and trigger driven fire control ( I just made that term up, like it?) especially when it first hit the market.

Kinda way out then and it gets my vote now.

I wish I could say 'SIG 550' because I have one ... but I had the chance to try the G36 and that one gets my vote.

BTW, the FN F2000 (Slovenia) and the HK416 (Norway) also fit the OP description of 'standard issue rifle'.
