favorite handgun

Each of mine is a favorite, especially when I'm having a good day at the range with that gun.:D Seriously, in the past couple of years I've winnowed my collection down to just a few guns which I shoot in rotation and I love each of them. Each has its unique characteristics and idiosyncracies and each is a challenge for me to shoot well. Here's what I'm shooting these days, in no particular order: 1911 (Smith & Wesson); Smith & Wesson 617 4"; Smith & Wesson model 66 4"; Smith & Wesson model 27-3 4"; and Smith & Wesson model 686 6". For good measure, throw in my wife's Smith & Wesson model 41. As you can tell, my favorites are, at the moment, limited to Smiths, although I keep thinking about buying a Ruger SR9 and may just do so one of these days.

My buddy bought a S&W .38 last year and I seem to have a lot of trouble hitting what I am at.

My own handgun is a Hi Point .45 JHP I bought it because I wanted the big "man gun" The sucker is a lot heavier than most .45 because of the simple blow back design, but it's a lot lighter than my cordless drill, so I don't mind so much. My buddy with the S&W .38 liked shooting it so much, he bought one just like it! Hi Point also has a life time warranty, and customer service that is second to none!

9mm PX4
it was reasonably priced
9mm so its cheap to shoot
feels good in my hand, good ergonomics
accurate
rotating barrel +9mm = no recoil
looks good
shares the same magazine as the CX4
its a beretta
its got a hammer, safety and decocking level.

My favorites...

1. My Hi-Power. What a classic. The great grip. The natural pointing ability. It just seems to instinctively send the bullets where I want them to go.

2. My carry gun--a PT-145. Its more of a challenge to shoot well, with the longer DAO trigger, but I love the size, weight, and carry-ability. I trust my life to it.

3. P-3AT--my other carry gun. Again, harder to shoot well, with the simple sights and small size. But in a pocket holster, with a spare mag, its the same size as my wallet. Which means it can go anywhere. I like that...

Glock 26. Reason- because my primary use for a handgun is CCW and HD. The G26 can meet both needs, and does so it a reliable, durable, accurate, good firepower and handling characteristics, light recoiling package.

I am a little biased towards my S&W 625 in 45acp, it just hits what I shoot at it with better than most(easier). Moon clips for the 45acp and you can shoot 45 auto rim in it also. :D

I would have to say my CCW. Ruger P97DC. I fits my hand and I can shoot it better than any other that I have. I also fully trust it if I need to use it.

Right now it's CZ P07-Duty, 9mm - but that's subject to change like the wind  beats out the G19 by a mile -

Glad to see people have more imaginations now then just the standard: Glock, Glock, Glock

I gotta pick just one???

Probably my carry piece, a Springfield XD40SC.

Why?

Almost ergonomically perfect, .40 S&W (my fav. round), 9 or 10+1 firepower, Trijicons, SA striker-fired, accurate, not much bigger than the Keltec PF-9 I used to carry, purchasing it didn't max out the CC, plenty of accessories available.

Springfield 1911 Mil-Spec shot nice, but after trigger, hammer, and safety upgrades is lights out.

S&W 657-2 4". Best trigger pull out of the box of any I've had. Added Wiegand front sight and Millet rear for older eyes.

Ruger 45LC SS Bisley 5.5". Belt Mountain base pin, Bowen Rough Country rear sight, and trigger job. Shoots 275gr Hunter Supply better than I can hold.
