Fat Guy Carry

I vote for a Crossbreed Supertuck worn at 4:00-4:30. You probably won't want the combat grip option. Other similar holsters are the MTAC and the Kholster, you should be fine with any of them.

I'm 6'4" and 280lbs. In the summer, I carry a 2.5" S&W M66 in a OWB holster by El Paso Saddlery somewhere between 3:30 and 4:00. With the right one, I can conceal it under a T-Shirt. If I'm feeling lazy, the Colt Cobra .38 Snubby goes in the right fron pocket in a Galco pocket holster. In the winter, I can easily carry either my 4" M28 or my 4" M629 in the same position as the M66 in a Kramer OWB holster with my coat over it. I've tried IWB, Ankle, and Shoulder rigs before. The shoulder rig was OK, but kind of a pain in the butt IMHO, the ankle rig was uncomfortable and IWB was extremely uncomfortable.

Man I love this thread I am 6'4" and 375 in the cold weather and wearing a jacket/coat I can pretty much carry whatever I want in OWB. In warmer weather wearing shorts and t-shirt I found it tough but I usually carry either my seecamp or S&W airweight in my pocket.

I'm 6'4" and 250 lbs. Mostly muscle, but my age and the wife's condition, and therefore lack of gym time, are growing the "love handles" at an alarming rate. I gave up on the IWB long ago and adopted the OWB carry and started wearing my shirts out for the first time in over 30 years. It's something I should have done long ago. For me, it's Don Hume's JIT Slide for the Kimber UCDP and H&K USPC, an Uncle Mike's Kydex for the Glock 26, and the latest is a Galco M7X Matrix for the Glock 29. All of these are extremely comfortable, all but maybe the Kydex hold the weapon close to the body, (so you don't need that big shirt look) and in the case of the Galco and Kydex, offer very good retention. All are very inexpensive.

I always carry a P32 in a pocket holster for BUG.

My Appreciation

Well thank you all for your help! I'm Very new to TFL and i'm glad i joined. I'm also new to the CCW world. I've always known i'd carry when i became old enough because all the men in my family (and most ladies too) are proud of their well earned rights. So The H&K is my first Pistol and the Uncle Mikes is my first Holster... So aparently your holster choice is every bit as important as your weapon of choice. I guess i'll just go try 'em all on like i did with the guns. Thanks everyone!

SOB=Small-of-Back, a/k/a "6 o'clock"

People will tell you horror stories about SOB carry and broken backs/pelvises. When I carry a revolver, I like carrying 5 o'clock with an SOB holster (and would carry 7 o'clock as a BUG if I had a left-handed version).

Jesus, invest in a good leather holster. The form-fitting leather will hold the weapon closer to your body than that cheapass nylon.

Ditch the Uncle whatshisname and get yourself some gunleather. Would you buy a high performance car and put cheap tires on it?

Nice car Crap tires

Na you're right about that. I went with nylon because i didn't know how often i'd be using the gun (since it's my first one) and i heard some rumors about leather being hard on the gun if you leave it in there too long.... But now i know i'll almost always have it with me so i'll check out some leather ones. (and as a cattle rancher, i've got no problem supporting beef lol)
