Fastest trigger reset

Which stock semi-auto do you think has the fastest trigger reset?

The Glock and BHP seem pretty fast but I have not sampled all the pistols (no one could there are so much)..

HP? Perhaps we are not talking about the same thing but the HP has the worst reset I have yet encountered on an autoloader. The bad reset is why I quit carrying it as I could not shoot the thing very rapidly. My Glocks are OK and about the same as my 1911s. The best so far for me is the Walther P99 where it seems the recoil is enough to knock my finger forward just enough to reset it. I just pull the trigger again without any conscious forward finger movement on my part and the thing fires. Pretty cool.

Not knocking Glock but the Steyr M Series & P99 have better triggers and quicker resets. BHP is actually slow or long, about that pistols only negative ouside of perhaps n/a in .45 ACP.

I'll have to go with the 1911 platform, especially a well tuned target or combat gun.

I would rank my P99's as a very good second.

1911

Glock is very good, though.
Anyone care to comment on the HK P7? I have no personal experience with one but think I remember reading it has a definite reset that is reasonably short.
BTW, some people believe in letting the trigger finger fly fully forward during trigger reset, anyway, during rapid fire "defensive" shooting practice.

My HK P7 has such a fast reset it has spoiled me. I sold my Sig 228 after going to the P7 full time because I couldn't go back to a long reset. A friend of mine, and sometime competitor, fires his P7 so fast some newbys think he has a full auto. It will fire and reset quicker than my skill level wiil ever be, but that is ok with me.:)

the best and fastest reset to me is the P99, but a 1911 aint bad either. Sig's are the worst I have ever tried. They make double taps an excesise in frustration!! I absolutely hate shooting my Sig's after shooting a Glock, P99, 1911, or other guns with short resets. The Sig has a pretty good pull, but god is the reset long.

So how important is it to a serious shooter to have a quick reset?

I have a CZ75 SA and after shooting a Glock and then a P7 the only thing I don't like on the CZ is the long reset. EGW is going to try and fix that for me. I let you know if they can.

Best Regards
Sam

I'd vote for either the P7 or 1911. The 1911 slide doesn't cycle as fast so it's not as easy to appreciate the reset as it is on the P7. I agree with Bob about the machine gun effect.

The H&K USP Compact has a long reset. I've bumped into several times. The CZ-75's reset is brisk compared to it.

Well, I can fire a P7 much faster than any other gun. Maybe I have special German fingers? Half the time I'm double tapping without full conscious control.

I agree with Incursion that the P7 trigger reset is long, so long that I feel that it doesn't qualify as a short reset at all. All of my P7s have this attribute.

Comparing my other semi-autos (Glocks, Walther P99s, and Steyr M40 with trigger update), I can state the following: the Walther P99 has the best trigger reset of the bunch. The Steyr M40's trigger reset is very short, but it is not as pronounced (not as easily heard/felt). The trigger travel for the Steyr M40 is short to begin with. The Glock trigger reset is a tad longer than the P99.
