Family shows and guns.

King of the Hill really doesn't get the credit it deserves.

I remember seeing an episode of Andy Griffith in which Andy showed his service revolver (I suppose the one time he actually had one) to a friend of Opie. He unloaded it, let the kid handle it, and even gave him sound safety tips.

King of the Hill had many good episodes regarding firearms. During one, Hank Hill's wife is found to have a natural ability to shoot and gets into the local country club neighborhood's trap and skeet team. In another, they all go hunting and it ends with his son deciding not to shoot the deer and his father accepts the decision. One of the characters is the president of the local gun club but he's also the paranoid conspiracy theorist (not that we don't have those among us I suppose). I think my favorite is when he convinces Hank's wife to let him sell guns in her bookstore by selling the books at ridiculous prices and giving away the guns as free gifts with the books.

None quite so cut and dry but that's the gist of what happens.
