Experiences hunting on public lands

Well those stories certainly are encouraging. I'll put a note on my bag to leave the bong at home. I'll also consider a central nervous system shot for the coup de grace.

I used to hunt pheasant on a state game land nearby that is stocked every year. by Pheasants Forever.

The last few years, opening day is like a parade-hunters in new canvas hunting pants marching along the trails about 10 feet apart. This goes on for hours, with an occasional gun shot off in the distance.

I actually got a shot two years ago, and of course I was so excited I missed.

I usually see alltered deer close up when I'm hunting small game, and see small animals in the spring.

It is a beautiful place for a walk, and I know some are very successful there, just not me.

ADDED: Since I am now retired, I will be hunting there during the week, and not the first week.Maybe my luck will improve. If not , it's still a beautiful spot.

Same for duck hunting. If you want peace and quiet don't hunt the opener!
