Excessive headspace question

Good gosh guys, it's not rocket science - simply rotate the small base resizing die down a quarter turn until the brass fits the case gauge properly.

Well that's what we're getting to but if the die and shell holder are making hard contact in cam over . No amount of turning the die down is going to size the case down any more .

If he's crimping with the seater die . It could be as easy as over crimping . It's not that we're making it more complicated . It's that we are trying to eliminate possible causes before giving all the the things it could be .

Does a factory round or first time hand loaded round stick?

Are you using a rcbs case holder when using the rcbs resizing die?

I have a hornady L-N-L AP press. I have the RCBS small base dies for this caliber.

Level-2 Question: Does a fully-resized/cammed-over/unloaded case stick in the chamber?
I just took some of the brass I resized. I didn't put powder or a bullet in it. put it in the rifle and tried to eject it. It seems there might be a slight restriction at first but it does eject it.

Well it seems The OP only wants to answer and or try one question or suggestion at a time . Good luck OP hope you figure it out .

I never set the die up to crimp. never had problems with my AR-15 and I never crimped those so figured I would be fine with this rifle.

6.5 Creedmoor in a AR platform is a great setup. Your F/L sizing, as long as you are bringing the ram to the top, having the F/L die bottom on the shell holder, your good. Are you using the expander ball when sizing? also with a Q-Tip, lube the inside of the neck, will help in sizing. If your good up to this point, check the case length, trim to what is recommended, deburr inside & out of case mouth. At this point your case should chamber. Double check to make sure your chamber is clean to start with. If the case chambers, will go to bullet seating & OAL. The RCBS small base die set, is it a 3 die set? Seater, full length & neck die set. If so make sure your not using the neck die. Had to ask.

factory loads cycle through the rifle just fine. so it is something with the reloaded ammo.

I would suggest you size your fired cases to look like factory cases. Again, I do not know what press your are using, I do not have a case that can not return a case to minimum length.

Again, my favorite cases are fired cases that will not chamber, sixing is made easier when my cases will not allow the bolt to close; all I have to do is start sizing the case. Of after reducing the length of the case from the shoulder to the case head I find the case will not allow the bolt to close I lower the die and start over.

There is no shortage of cases about here, for the 308 type chamber I form 308 cases out of 30/06 cases. I may never get around to loading the formed case to fire but when I size the case to fit I know the length of the chamber.

like everyone else has said...It`s probably in the die adjustment...If you want to check your brass or ammo get an RCBS Precision Mic. It`s a barrel micrometer...You put the case or loaded round inside, screw the outer marked sleeve over the round and read the mic. It will tell you if the case is over or under size. It`s really that simple! Good luck!!!
