And unlike Iraq, he's making the locals pay for security, to the tune of 12mil. DC residents are a bit annoyed.
Congratulations to our gracious homeland leader Lord Bush, Emperor of the United Police States of America.
How long is this "war" going to last? Seems pretty open ended to me. When do you think we'll declare "victory"?
When does the war end?

Typical democrat response..............Waaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh! :(

Funny, I didn't think that question was purely democrat. Most soldiers aren't, yet they're asking exactly that.

They must not be as patriotic as the people using the internet this afternoon, safe at home.

Im a Marine 0311 and have been to Iraq 2 times, and while you just assume that "I sit at home" I train to go a 3rd time and dont talk to me about patriotism Im more of a patriot than 95% of the ungrateful disrespectful sorry ass people in this country, there are a few that are with me "a few" the rest live in a sugar coated dream land and dont have a clue. Not a single clue

Of the people I know in the army and national guard, 90% think Bush is a douche. That has nothing to do with being a democrat. I'm not a democrat and to accuse me of being such is laughable.

If your definition of being patriotic is blindly following the neo-con decree of invading small sovereign nations with good oil reserves then by all means call yourself patriotic. If you ever take off the blinders let us know.

What is that whole "love it or leave it" thing I keep hearing? Oh yes, if you like the sand pit enough to do a 3rd tour, why don't you just move there?

Iraq is "free" now, yes?

Of course, Psycho Sword is from North Dakota, were there are 100 times as many dung heaps as here are people so you can be assured that the cross section of military personnel that he says that he has contact with is an accurate representation of the opinions of the military worldwide.

357 Magfan...just 'cause you been to the sandbox twice doesn't mean squat to our 'friend' from North Dakota. He has all the answers. If your 411 doesn't match with his, you can't possibly be right and are a tool of the media. He doesn't 'lower himself' to take in any info that conflicts with his 'no compromise' world view. In his world, you soldiers and marines are just a pawns of big corporate government doing the grunt work of raping Iraq for its oil wealth. Oh, he won't tell you that straight up 'cause he 'supports the troops'. But you can bet that he believes it, the scorn is there and ya wouldn't have to dig too deep to find it. In fact, he doesn't want us to win in Iraq because for us to do so would flush his entire point of view dwn the crapper. So don't try and tell him what you know. To him its just propaganda that you've been programmed to spew. He's got all the answers and he'll be the first to tell 'ya. ;)

fugettaboutit...semper fi.

And you don't know anyone who wants the war to be over? Amazing.
Today

Nobody wants war but I and others refuse to give in because things seemingly arent going well, I dont want to go back I hate Iraq, its a depressing disgusting country but would rather die "Maybe I will" than give in to these terrorists scumbags because.....the world sais so.. pleasssssse, we are the ones who got attacked first remember? You just want to high tale and run and let them think they have had a victory so they can reinforce their terrorism against us while the rest of the ignorant world supports them? We went there originally with a plan to help the civilians who were oppressed by Saddam, we fixed local power problems, reopened schools, passed out candy and toys to the kids while at the same time hunted for the insurgents. Funny how you never see the good things we do in the news, but are you really suprised? We are not mass killing civilians, every thing we do is a REACTION to what those jihad lunatics try and do to us, not the other way around.
The enemy and the media makes it seem like we are trying to conquer Iraq and that we are having "trouble" . I swear to god if we went there to conquer there wouldnt be an Iraq or Iran or a syria right now. But of course that is not the mission.
And by the way, when was the last terrorist attack on american soil since 9/11? Exactly. Obviously the Bush administration is doing something right. at least up until this point. So why criticize Bush when he has done so much to protect the American people? Do you think he authorized the tortures and all that other crap? That was the work of some bad apples, and they paid for it!
Blaming the president because his plan didnt go perfectly is very wrong, any reasonable minded person knows that we went over there with good intentions. Just because things arnt going smoothly dosnt mean you just quit and leave, that would be a huge mistake.

G, why do you always make it personal? You started it, now you're just posting insults. If you want to debate a topic, there are more effective methods than the put-downs. In fact, more people might even agree with you if you could manage to get your point across without the bile. But resorting to the personal stuff just sounds like a desperate ploy by someone backed into a corner. Kind of like the Kerry campaign talking about Cheney's daugter.

357,

Inquiring when and how the war is going to end is now more "waaaahhhh" then you saying you don't want to go back. No one wants you to go back, including Pyschosword. What's the problem? We all know that America doesn't do well with open ended insurgencies, so do you think that not having a clear goal for this war is a good thing?

Of course, you believe Iraq attacked us, so I'm not sure if we can even have a dialogue on this subject that is going to make any sense.

Handy...

Thanks for the advice...and I mean that sincerely. I'd really like to stick to the give and take of well considered ideas and well thought out points of view. I'll be the first one to treat my fellow posters with the same respect that they treat me. I honestly believe that all of us have some intellegent input to share.

I will not, however, abide being labled a 'pig', a 'whore' or any other epithet that's been thrown my way. Arrogance is a character flaw that I find difficult to accomodate in anyone but myself (and there's plenty of it to go around). I tend to play by the rules that others set at the time and do not suffer insults lightly. You and I have had our turns here and there and I hope that we are on the mend. I also hope that I can reach a point where I can correspond with everyone in a civil manner and that they will do the same. Dispite my 'christian' upbringing, I've never been very good at turning the other cheek. Nor am I the only one at fault here.

I am resolved to do better dispite the shortcomings of some of my peers. :)

You weren't called a pig. FF made an analogy. Would you have felt all proud and happy if it was "...like teaching a lion to tapdance" ?

Even if you don't like his word choice, it was a follow up to your "whining" comment, which was not exactly a fine piece of constructive debate material. So to hear that you were merely defending your honor doesn't make much sense.

This thread has turned into an argument over how to argue. I am closing it due to general incivility and veering off topic.

Please feel free to email or PM if you wish to discuss this action.
