Everyone give it up for

I heard him very plainly just a minute ago. "...to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution so help me God..."

He's busily engaged in bringing freedom to other parts of the world. He sworn to defend & preserve ours...so we shouldn't be hearing anything in the future to the effect of 'Americans have to give up some freedom for (whatever) reason. Riiigghht?

Heh, right, except that Washington is currently under "unprecedented security" so he could give a speech about spreading freedom across the world. :)

And unlike Iraq, he's making the locals pay for security, to the tune of 12mil. DC residents are a bit annoyed.

Hilarious how everyone thinks that 51% of the vote is a "mandate". The guy squeaked in since he got Ohio. He won fair and square. He's the president. So be it. But to say he has a mandate is an extraordinary stretch of the truth. I for one would rather have him than Kerry. But due to his positions on many issues, it's a *close* call.

I guess that election results under a certain percentage only entitle him to lay around the Oval Office and be orally pleasured by an intern half his age.

Lincoln won the presidency in a 4 way split and led the through its greatest struggle for survival; Truman was elevated to the presidency after FDR' death, used nukes to stop Japan and saw the country safely into the post WW2 era. Bush's President, like it or not...stop yer whinin'..

Anyone who doesn't understand the need for the security arrangements at the inauguration today is living on another planet. We are at war, or have you forgotten?

Hello everyone.™

Hey!!! Easy on the flame there...

If No Official Government Clerk, Senator, President, Congressman, Etc, Will Not Defend The Second Admendment Then The Entire Government Should Be Re-Born.

Congratulations to our gracious homeland leader Lord Bush, Emperor of the United Police States of America.

How long is this "war" going to last? Seems pretty open ended to me. When do you think we'll declare "victory"?

My response was merely pointing out that whether you or anyone else considers Bush's re-election to be a 'mandate' or not is no reason for him to be tepid regarding his response to the place in history where we find ourselves. By pointing out exampes of leaders who have found themselves in the Oval office with less of a mandate (or none at all) and saw our nation through by strong, determined leadership, I had hoped to shed light on the fallicy that a 'mandate' is needed to firmly and decisively lead this country, especially in times of national peril. That you have difficulty wrapping your mind around this concept is not unusual. That you castigate me for your own shortcomings is unfortunate.
That you compare me to swine is, considering your company, a compliment. Good day.

Hey, you're the one who started with the "whining" stuff. Don't get so contrite now.

FFs comment wasn't even an attack on Bush, just the idea that his win equals overwhelming support. Where's the whining in that?

'How long is this war going to last'?

If left up to folks like you, just long enough for our enemies to set off a few nukes in some urban areas, release some nerve gas in some city's subway system or let loose a smallpox epidemic of biblical proportions.

But that's ok with you just as long as you get to keep your shoes on at the airport. But please, we wouldn't want to inconvenience you in the least.

Gentlemen,

Please ease up on the sniping. Let's concentrate on having a polite discussion, not a slap-fest. We don't have to agree, but we do have to be civil.

Thanks,

-Dave

That was not an answer.

Nor was yours a question. It was snide and sarcastic. I'll be guided by our moderator's admonition to keep my response civil. :)

Depends on the enemy. Iran and Syria appear to be in the crosshairs as is North Korea if we cannot continue to successfully keep them in a box. I'm kinda weary of giving China a nod and a wink for whatever assisstance that they are providing with helping to contain the North. In his speech today, Bush gave the green light to all who oppose totalitarian governments by saying that we would stand with them. To me, this is a clear signal that something LARGE is about to happen in Iran, that it will be an indigenous revolt supported by our air, navy and spec. ops. We cannot hope to have ANY semblance of progress with stabilization in Iraq wih the interference of the Iranian government currently in power. They DO have a WMD program and they DO provide training, funding, shelter and support for international terror and they WILL NOT hesitate to toss a nuke into Israel. Nor can we tolerate the Syrians continued interference and their using Lebanon for the worlds largest terrorist training grounds.

As I have stared previously, the war against islamofascism will cease when the great majority of Moslems worldwide actively repudiate and eliminate this sect from their midst. Ultimately, they have to clean their own house. Otherwise, we'll be fighting for as long as they are a threat. As far as other lunatic
hate mongers and power junkies, all bets are off.
