Ever store your guns w/ dessicant...

There is a great low cost source for silica gel at the local grocery store. The NEW cat litter (sani fresh?) is made entirely of silica gel crystals, and turns blue when saturated with moisture. I forget the name but a 10 lb box costs $8.99. This seems a lot more economical than the Packets I've seen online for keeping guns dry. I put the stuff in an open margarine tub, ancd cover with a piece of used pantyhose and a rubber band to prevent spills. dump it on a cookie sheet and bake at 200 for about 1/2 hour to dry.

Master,

Whoa! I'm off to the cat litter aisle!

I'm certain my dogs will have a heart attack when I walk in with a bag of litter. :)

Smith & Wesson is dead to me.

If you want a Smith & Wesson, buy USED!

I use the silica gel crystal paks from Midway. I use two of the 450 grams paks. I don't wait until the 49% turns pink, but try to recharge when the 30% is pink. I use the microwave to recharge the pak. It takes about 15 - 20 minutes. Things get a little hot. The 4 hour oven time in the summer is a little much. Jerry
