Ever have a day like this?

I recently bought a Wilson Combat KZ-45 and S&W Performance Center .44 MAG. All weekend long I was tied up with different projects. Finally today I was free to hit the range. I belong to 4 private ranges. My primary range was closed down to a .30 cal shoot. Secondary range was available (so I thought). Third range was closed for sporting clays. Fourth range was closed for trap.

So I headed to my secondary range. Once I got there, the "Range Closed" sign was posted. I was like WTF. Then I noticed people dressed up like cowboys rolling out barrels, wagons, etc. Damn it if they decided to have their Cowboy Action Shoot.

So here I sit with two new guns that will have to wait until next weekend. geez

It's because you bought the S&W. You must do pennance.

Son, the solution is simple. As I see it you had two options.
One) Range one was out because neither of the the new guns were a .30 so it was out.
Two)Range two was out because neither of the new guns are CAS legal os it was out.
But that left you ranges three and four. Unless there were restrictions placed on the type of gun you were allowed to use you could used both the Wilson or the Smith to shoot trap or sporting clays today.
I'd recommend the Smith for trap but the Wilson is definately a sporting clays gun. :D

papercut,

The Smith is a used gun. You can bash Smith & Wesson all you want and I won't argue. Personally, I have quarrels with buying a used S&W. The only person you hurt by boycotting a used smith is the seller. Smith & Wesson already have their money when the gun was sold as new.

That's all the beside the point with this thread.

ArmySon,

My apologies. When you said "two new guns" in your original post, I assumed that both guns were *new* guns, not just new to you.

No need to apologize. It was my faulty usage of words that caused the misunderstanding. It should be I who should apologize.

And I apologize too. No particular reason. It just seems like everybody else is doing it.
Son, You need to find a neat place out in the woods for days like that.

You have to be there when it's all over. Otherwise you can't say "I told you so."

Better days to be,

Ed

The other option Son is that you could of came back to Missouri and shot off of the porch at the wood pyle. :lol

WHEN IT COMES TO FRIENDS THE SKY IS NOT THE LIMIT

ArmySon, that happens to me all the time. I don't get the time to shoot as much as I used to, and it's frustrating to work up some loads, drive 15 miles to the range and find it closed for some special event. Yes, the events bring in dollars for the club, but sometimes it seems like they're running something all the time.

Son,
Im surprised no one has stumbled on the solution to that dilemma........you need a couple more guns that you can take with you so if that happens again you can compete or just go shooting at these events...lol....any excuse for a new gun is valid...lol...fubsy.

fubsy,
The only problem is, each of the clubs is 25-40 minutes away. I should've brought my SAA and joined the cowboy shoot. Instead, I only brought the two newly purchased guns. grrrr

I'd like to take the time, to give a public apology to Ed Brunner, for he had to apologize for me, when really I should be doing the apologies, and to son toa and papercut for the initial misunderstanding I experienced the first time I read the posts, and to everyone else who had to listen to my senseless rambling. truly, I'm sorry

This is reminding me of a John Prine song, Fish and Whistle, the chorus of which goes:

quote:
Father forgive us for what we must do
You forgive us we'll forgive you
We'll forgive each other till we both turn blue
Then we'll whistle and go fishing in heaven.[/quote]

Personally, I had a great morning at the range yesterday, good time with a bunch of FAL'ers, and I'm not sorry about it at all! ;)

And awake in the dawn's early light
But much to my surprise
When I opened my eyes
I was a victim of the great compromise. -

Hey JimR, thanks for the link. Been a Prine fan a long time.

guerilla,

I'm not sorry but I sure am envious. Should I apologize for that?

I will apologize in advance for hijacking this thread for the benefit of the John Prine fans. You know who you are.

Illegal Smile, Angel from Montgomery, Dear Abby, and these words from Paradise:

"...where the air smelled like snakes, and we'd shoot with our pistols, but empty pop bottles is all we would kill".

As I said, I'm sorry too.

Son, when you get the chance to shoot that KZ a little bit, could you give us a full report? I've been interested in one of those for a while, and I've read everything here and at 1911 forum about them, but there still isn't a lot of opinions yet.

Since everyone else is apologizing, I apologize again. I've been looking for a place to apologize AGAIN but they kept closing all my threads before I could apologize again. In fact I apologize to everyone except ALGORE and Bill Clinton.

And I also apologize for hijacking this thread so I could apologize again.
