At our range, the etiquette is “please use the porta potty, don’t just whiz on the berm halfway down the range.”

You're asking if it's ok to walk away to a place you can't see your $500 to $thousands dollar investment in gear on a bench at a publicly accessible range and hoping everyone at the range is totally honest and that it's all there when you get back? (including your Class III items)
