Ending Terrorism

Bog,

I must admit that I didn't do any indepth research into the Qur'An, just typed in a few words and read what it said.

My main point was that people like the terrorist are the same as our own home grown cults, there will always be people that will follow "that way" and believe what they've been feed (told).

So my way of thinking that that this is a "war" that will never be won because there will always be someone to take the place of those that blow themselves up or preach the hate.

And to think that talking to these people, appeasing them, treating them with kid gloves is something that will never work. and I also said that it's something that we shouldn't use to remove any of our Constitutional Rights just to feel safe.

It's that old catch .22.

I don't have the solutions to the problem, I just have my ideas on the matter. No talks, profiling, kill when found.

Wayne,

Heh. It's always the way that there are people who crave power, and harbour hatred in their souls. Such folk as these have always had religion to warp and abuse as a channel for their hatred, and impressionable young folk to go do their dirty work - suicide bombers are an even more potent vector for this, as violent death begets the hatred that fuels the whole sick machine.

Be they muslim, xtian or whatever - hate-cycle operations are a self-perpetuating foulness, for which there are no easy answers.

I've always considered one of the main signatures of the White Hat to be a dispassionate approach - in the same way that a doctor feels no hatred for a cancer, or a dentist for a rotten tooth, then when a Good Man draws the conclusion that a person in his sight needs killing, it will be the clinical almost-sadness of realising that an unhappy operation must be performed to prevent greater harm in the long term, rather than the hot-blooded fury of emotional reaction.

Then again, I beleive that hard work will pay off, and that honesty is the best policy. This world's gonna eat me alive, ain't it? ;)

Why can't you remove these facts, because in order to remove terrorism you would have to remove the religion of Islam.

Hmm. I did not realize Tim McVeigh, Eric Rudolph, James Kopp, and Teddy Unabomber were all Muslims.

They were, but after the flap that Hollywood took about making the bad guys in Sum of All Fears neo-Nazis, they decided the simplest tactic would be to convince the world that someone other than radical Muslims were terrorists.

I've heard that in the remake of the Siege, the terrorists are going to be disgruntled Disney workers. All references to Allah will now be to Walt.

Bizarre

Timothy McVeigh a radical Muslim??? :p What have you been smoking??? McVeigh was a conservative antigovernment extremist, who, by his own statements, indicated that the bombing was carried out in revenge for the Federal clashes with antigovernment groups at Ruby Ridge and Waco.

Ted Kaczynski wasn't a radical Muslim either - he was just a paranoid psychotic that believed that technology was inherently evil and must be stopped. His victims were all proponents or implementors of technology. Kaczynski himself stated all these beliefs in his manifesto that he required be published in the national media (was done in the NY Times and the Washington Post according to his demands).

It's not Hollywood that gave these ideas - it's the FBI and the actual statements and writings of the terrorists themselves. Where are you getting your information??? :p

You're not going to promote the theory that the CIA actually killed Kennedy too, are you??? :p

Apparently, our sarcasm detectors are off-line today. ;)

Ahh, ok, ok - sorry, but nothing surprises me here - in another thread a guy is arguing that Yasser Arafat spent his life trying to block formation of a Palestinian state... so if people can put forth theories like that, they can believe anything! Makes it kind of difficult to detect something outrageous as sarcasm. :D
