Encore Handgun Scope Recommendations?

I use a collapsable bipod (Cabela's sell it). It has thumb locks like a camera tripod and expands from about 18" up to about 5'. You put the forearm on the bipod and use your left hand to keep hold the forearm and bipod fork together. Recoil just pops the barrel slightly up.

If I had to buy another bipod, I'd probably go with the Primos trigger stick bipod. Adjustment on that one is faster than with the one I have.

Ok, I thought that might work... but I was a little afraid that I might break my fingers.:D

You won't find a better holster than the QuietHide, nor a better gentleman to work with. The holster will be made specifically to your rig.

On Holsters; I have heard of the Quiethide Holsters. I have never seen one but they look like they are well made and thought out. I am not sure if a 15" Encore will fit in the one I suggested. My Super 14 fills it up. I think Blackhawk makes a holster that will fit the encore also.

On holding the pistol: I have used several methods.
1. I have a bar on my climbing stand and this is what I use the most. I rest the pistol on the bar and put my non firing hand under the forearm. The guns forearm is resting in the V made by my Thumb and forefinger. I don't hold the T/C like other pistols two handed. If I do with the hard recoiling calibers I get a busted knuckle:mad:

2. When on the ground I use a Bi-Pod I made. Or I have a walking stick that has a fork at the top and is about shoulder high. Same thing I rest the forearm in the fork. Non firing hand supports the gun under the forearm.,,,,,bam

3. With my shorter 10" barrels that don't recoil so much like 22lr, 22 hornet and 32-20, I can shoot them like I would any normal gun or rest them on a tree limb to shoot.

4. I have also laid back and rested the gun between my knees to shoot. But this was out west and at varmints.

With a Encore and a 15" barrel you will need a rest. That is a LOT of gun. My super 14 is big, almost too big. With the 14" 30-30 barrel it is a stand hunting gun. I can stalk with my 10" 45-70 or a Revolver much more easy. I have 1.5X-4x scope on the 45-70 and when hunting it is on 1.5x.

Last on the scopes. Last night I went and looked at my barrels and hunting rigs, here is what I have on them:

Contender Barrels
30-30 14"- 1.5-4X Burris
223AI 14"- 2-7x Burris
22lr 10" 2x- Leuplod
22 Hornet 10"- 3x burris
32-20 10"- Iron Target sights
45-70 10"- 1.5-4X burris

Hunting Revolvers:
629 6.5"- 30MM Aim Point This is the swamp gun
Redhawk 44M 7.5"- 2x Leupold
657 6" Iron sights
Redhawk 44M 5.5"- Iron sights

I sometimes hut hogs with my 1911 too. Its a Colt Series 70 in 45 acp. I have been wanting to get a 460 Rowland barrel set up for it. I think this would be a fine 50yd and in gun.

I was thinking on this last night;

To get an idea of what a pistol scope is like to shoot with; Get a piece of 1" dia PVC pipe 5-6" long. Hold it at arms length and sight in on stuff. That is a 0x scope. You will get the idea quick.

Thanks for the info, guys.

This is why I love TFL!:)

Last night I ordered a Warne base, Warne rings and a trigger stick. Also, the dies, and bullets and case trimmer.

I've decided on the matte finish Burris 2-7X32. My uncle has a Savage muzzle loader with the stainless barrel, mount and rings with a black scope. It looks pretty sharp. I figured that the Encore would look pretty good that way also, since it's got black grips.

I should have everything all put together within 2 weeks, at the most, depending on how long it takes for my county to add a gun to the permit. I've never actually done that so it's a bit of a guessing game.

Pics when it's done!
