RB BREW,

The BIGGEST contribution the US could make to Cuba is to simply allow vacation travel.

An infusion of dollars of that kind at the LOCAL level, not at the governmental level, can do wonders.

Fud,

I also have a big problem with how the government seized the boy.

However, I also have HUGE problems with the stance taken by the family, which was more of "this is OUR political icon, and you can't have IT back."

The family was only awarded temporary custody, and only then in the absence of the father. When the father arrived, they should have handed the boy over after INS changed the custodial disposition. That they didn't bordered on interference with custody, a chargable offense.

As for the Cubans who left children behind, well, that was their choice. Given the choice of leaving without my children, or staying put, guess which one I'm going to choose?

Granted, that is a tragedy, but it is NOT germane to this situation.
