Effective Range

Good thing I'm not the BG or the one's that don't practice the longer shots with a handgun would be in deeeeeep do do .

I couldn't imagine shooting at or over 100 yards. I would like to though for practice and "just in case scenorios." I think it is always good to practice outside the comfort zones. Unfortunately, the longest requal we have is 25 yards.

If I am in a scenario where the perp is shooting at me 100 yards out, I will be in cover... calling for backup and ESU (we unfortunately don't have long rifles or shotguns in our RMP's --- squad cars).

I live in nyc and go to an indoor range with a max range of about 50 feet. I also can't draw from the holster at the range which sucks. I practice as much as I can .. dry firing, malfunction drills, reloading drills and live fire.

I personally would like to be able to shoot accurately and quickly over 25 yards instead of slow/target firing. I have been fortunate enough not to be in a shoot out but practice so that when crap hits the fan...basics kick in and I am on target.

I frequently practice at 75 yards with 9mm, 40S&W and 45acp, rapid fire I almost always shoot at 25 yards. When shooting at 75 yards I usually time my shots 3-4 seconds apart.

With my CZ-75, I'm proficient out to about 15 yards. By proficient, I mean I can draw and put two quick rounds into center mass (8,9, or X ring) on a standard silhouette. I don't get enough range time with the pistol as I would like.

I'm a bit better with my Sig Trailside .22 pistol. I can routinely hit golfballs at20-30 yards, and clay pigeons out to about 50.

1911 or my M&P, I could make consistent hits at a hundred, and make it warm for him way past that. Give me one of my S&W roundguns, and I can go a good bit farther.
