Effect of FN on Browning?

When you compare the current Browning and Winchester catalogs, the entry level Model 70 is at a lower price point than the entry level X Bolt. When you compare the top line, Browning's best remain more expensive than the Winchester's.

If FN is cheapening the Browning brand, it appears they are doing it wrong.

It seems the other way around. Winchester's products are primarily mid tier with a handful of higher end, whereas Browning's are primarily higher mid-tier and go up from there.

The Winchester brand rights for firearms are currently licensed by Olin Corp (who retains the ammunition Winchester trademark) to Browning, which acts as the import arm for Winchester-marked guns.

FN doesn't own or retain licensing directly for Winchester products, but could be said to indirectly through ownership of Browning.

And JM Browning was never a part of Browning Arms Corporation, the company was formed after his death.
