EDC 45 Colt Revolver

To kinda piggyback on Billy's post. You could also convert one of these Tradition's (PIETTA) 1873 Rawhides. They have the transfer bar system, so it allows you to carry it with all six rounds in the cylinder. You can get them for less than 350. Or if its a nicer one you want they have the models with the case hardened frame, blued cylinder and barrel also, just more money. I have had the Frontier Model for a while now, it has been a great revolver so far.

rep1954 - that's a beautiful Colt you got there, especially the fire blue screws. My own Sheriff's SAA is a bit too gaudy for carry though...

Looks like they stopped way short of gaudy to me, I like it.

deerslayer303 - I'm glad you mentioned those SA with the transfer bar - I had completely forgotten about the models that Uberti, Pietta make. A much better suggestion than mine! :)

I'm not much of an open carry guy... but every now and then I give it a whirl. I've got a totally custom OM Blackhawk in .44 Special that fits my hand perfectly. Looks good, feels good, I'm willing to tolerate the idea of five rounds of 200 grain CorBon Barnes type HP's. Little leather belt slide with six more just to make me feel better.

I carried a S&W Airweight M296 Centennial in .44 Special for years and years with the same solid copper HP's. Only 18.5 ounces and I've always liked the whole Centennial concept. The Aurora movie theater shooting finally got me to transition to an HK P2000 LEM in .357 SIG but I have fond memories of that S&W. It's still in the safe and gets pulled out every now and then when I want super light weight but not a mouse gun.

Either way you look it it, a single-action Colt's revolving holster pistol of .45 army caliber is a great CCW piece, even today.

The knock down power is incredible, and I can't think of a more reliable gun than a '73 Colt or Ruger's Vaquero.
