Easy Access Gun Safe/Vault

I got a small keypad safe from Harbor Freight Tools for $39. It works pretty good. The batteries have lasted for months so far & it will open with a key if needed.

I got a GunVault mini vault for 2 years ago and used it since with the same set of batteries. Very well made, easy to use I love it.

I bought my mini deluxe Gunvault for less than $100 shipped a few months ago and have been very happy since. I assume the people that have battery issues are using cheapo batteries. Use Duracell batteries as the manual states and you should be good to go.

As for the deluxe and standard models. If you want a motion detector alarm, internal light, the ability to plug it into a outlet, and the low battery indicator alarm get the deluxe. If you don't want those options save yourself a few bucks and get the standard.

I plan on getting one or two of their large safe models someday.

Buy with confidence :)

I just got the V-Line Compact today. It is exactly what I need to keep the kids away from the HD gun but I can access it fast enough if I need to. It was a bit pricey on gunsafes.com but none of the stores around here sell it. Nonetheless, I'm very happy with it.

I've had my GunVault for two years and am still on the original batteries with daily usage so don't let one post about a lemon discourage you

v-line question

bartenderfloyd:

Does your v-line case open automatically once it is unlocked? Meaning, does the top pop up, or do you have to lift it up?

Also, if you're not holding the top open, will it fall back closed?

I'm trying to figure out if there's any spring system that keeps the top open once unlocked.

Thanks for the info!

We have two of the mini gun vaults, one in the bedroom upstairs and the other in the kitchen downstairs. Have used them for two years with no battery problems. The upstairs one gets opened at least once a day. We programmed them with the same combination and they both have SIGS ready to roll. No worries about different combinations or manipulating different firearms. :)

GUNVAULT MULTI VAULT BIOMETRIC, MODEL GVB-2000 FINGERPRINT SAFE here, and very happy with it. I have AC plug connected discretely. If a thief really wants it, they can carry it even though it would be tough getting it out of its bolted in location. The idea is not theft-proof but curiousity type accident deterrence, though; I have little kids visit sometimes and they are rather crafty. Its child proof and adult child proof too.:D You would have to somehow get it first then use some heavy duty tool to get into it. I'd recommend it.

You have mini guns in the bedroom and the kitchen?! Now that is home protection. :D

germanshooter:

I have the Top Draw safe from vline, the one here:

http://www.deansafe.com/vli-2912-s.html

To open the safe:
1) turn knob left to clear
2) enter combination
3) turn knob right to release mechanism
4) lift the lid

It does not spring open on its own, at least not with the top opening safe.

Thanks wmeSha!

I just placed an order for one yesterday. I've read too many good reviews not to go for it. Looks like solid merchandise to me.

Mello2u the biometric multi safe with backup batteries and optionally an AC outlet connection takes all of a second to open with the fingerprint. If that doesn't do it, and I don't really see that happening, you can use the safe key that comes with it. Research it, I can personally vouch for it because I have one.:) Ok, it costs a bit more, but you get a very good safe. It is along the lines of the safe theotherTexasRich wrote about, only it has a fast access fingerprint pad, and is a bit bigger with a top shelf that is a bit bigger.

Fly: Sure do! ;) Don't want to have to run up the stairs if a BG comes to the front door. :D Don't know if that is prepared or lazy!

I bought an R&D Enterprises Handgun Safe with a Simplex mechanical combination lock. No key to lose, no batteries to run down, no circuitry to fail. Five key combination in any pattern, like one and two simultaneously then three, four, five sequentially. Very fast, very strong, with anchoring hardware. Mine is about 16W x 14L x 6H (inches). Too bad the company is out of business. I like the system because relying on batteries or AC power or fumbling with keys (if you have any available) didn't seem like a good strategy to me.

Here are a couple sources for safes with the Simplex mechanical combination lock system:

T & T Enterprises Advanced Pistol Safes uses the Simplex system but has lousy photos in its website:

V-Line Security Cases also uses the Simplex lock and has better photos:
