Three things about 1911's disassembly/reassembly:
- Dont let the spring fly out and hit you in the face when you turn the barrel bushing.
(Just keep your thumb over it)
- Use both thumbs to snap the slide stop in place, the second thumb is positioned below and keeps it from swinging down and scratching your frame if it pops out.
- Absolutely do not miss the hole in the barrel link when you reinsert the slide stop. You will seriously regret that mistake the instant you cycle the slide.
Put the slide on, hold it back a bit until lined up, then shake it back a fourth a little while looking through the hole into a light, you'll see it swing into position, then with your other hand stick the slide stop in.
Finally switch your grip around and push it in with both thumbs.
