Dying a wood stock on a Ruger 10/22

This should give you some inspiration

I used a pink alcohol based dye to get the fusicia color, I could have thinned it with rubbing alcohol to get a lighter color.

Get some RIT dye, like you'd use for your clothes.
I refinished the stock on a Garand, and after sanding off the factory oil and stain - easily done - I discovered that the brown stain had hidden a couple of areas that were almost white, contrasting too heavily with the surrounding brown wood.
I didn't really want to stain the whole thing, so I bought some brown RIT dye, cut it a bit with rubbing alcohol - which is supposed to promote absorption - and spot-dyed the white parts.
I'm sure you could mix whatever shade of pink or purple you want, and go for it.
I applied four or five coats of Formby's "tung oil finish", which is a "wiping varnish" with tung oil in it, and it turned out very nice.
