durable pistol finishes?

BB, NP3 is an excellent choice for frame, internals, and mags, then use Rogard for the slide. The reason that you don't see TiN much is that you end up with a gold gun and who wants that as a carry piece. Magnum Research has the Desert Eagle available in TiN. Sure do wish they could figure out how to do it in black!!!!

Who applied the chrome finish?

Bob Cogan ( www.apwcogan.com ) did my Witness. I'd go to him again for any finish on any of my guns. He just can't do NP3.

I should add that my guns are thoroughly abused, and ALL my guns rust, even the stainless ones, the plastic one (now gone), ALL. I keep my guns in a safe, and the safe is in my shop, and I keep the humidity WAY UP due to primers.....no static discharge in My shop. LOL

Dr. Rob,

I'm going to have to give a ditto to Proximo's post...I too have used Norell's Moly Resin. Very easy to apply. I just did my Springfield 1911A1 in semigloss black-WOW! The description of Norell's Moly Resin process and the product itself is identical to Wilson Combat's description of their process called Armor-Tuff. I'm not a gambling man, but I'd bet it's the same product. Oh yeah, colors too...semi-gloss black, gray, green, brown, stainless silver etc...Great stuff! Do not use Brownell's Baking Lacquer! Their Moly finish may be ok.

Hard Chrome Finish by MetaLife, MetaLoy, or Accurate Plating. My HKP7 done in 1984 looks brand new still. ;)

Kilgor,

Yep. Should'a seen the look on some doubters faces when I'd pull it out all nicely Martian-looking.......LOL

My Caspian 1911 is NP3'ed. It doesn't rust (except the Bomar).

What in the hell do you do to your guns then? Keep them at the bottom of your pool for safe keeping? I have been very impressed with the Tennifer finish on Glocks and have never personally seen one rust. I have now heard of it happening exactly twice. If you have access to a scanner or digital camera could you post a picture of it here or email me one? I'm not calling you a liar, but I would like to see a picture if you could without too much trouble.

KilgorII,

I sold that POS; just never 'liked' it, even after spending another grand modifying it.
(Plus it rusted. LOL)

Our largest local PD went all-Glock, 22's and 23's. Seen some of them rusting already.
Seems like we can even get aluminum to rust here in Vermont...
