Dry-firing a Ruger MkII?

Haven't done so for a while, but when I shot the Ruger Mk I (old target model) in competition, I dry fired all the time, without a snap cap or cartridge. Probably only 4-5 thousand snaps. I did NOT break a firing pin, batter the chamber, or break the retainer pin. No problems at all.

Of course I didn't leave the firing pin retainer out, either, but anyone who puts a pistol together without all the parts deserves what he gets.

I don't worry a lot about letting the hammer down by dry snapping.
