Dropped brand new HK

Two feet to carpet huh? With the first time I droped my guns was that gentle! I droped a ruger mk 2 in gravel and put three dings in it, and droped my Beretta 96 from 2 or 3 feet, barrel first, fully loaded, onto a steel floor! Left a dent in the floor... :D BTW, the hammer was down, but the saftey was no engaged, and still no problems.

How much does a HK Mk 23 cost, and can I get the optional silencer.... low noise practice... honest!

Have fun with the new gun, and stay safe.

I have dropped both of my USPs on the pavement from chest level 2 or 3 times each. (Don't ask how or why.)

Trust me, this did not hurt them at all. The carpet??

Enjoy.

Thank you for all the assurance guys. As I mentioned before anytime you get something new you want to baby it and hardly want to even use it. I am sure you guys know what I mean. I guess I have a good excuse to go to the range this week though don't I. I have to make sure nothing is wrong. It is my duty as a good citizen:)

took a group shooting in the desert once and had a kid who had never fired a shotgun, guess it was a big suprise when he fired it cause he just LET GO of it dropping it onto rocks and sand. it survived and HE survived, no big deal.

Not damage but...

Actually there is one thing you should check. Remove the slide. There's a plastic roll pin that holds in the decocker assembly. Sometimes that pin slides out of place. Also there's a little crescent shaped plate that serves for the decock/safety control. This can slip out of allignment.

You're probably fine, but make sure the plate is in position and center the roll pin. This is something you need to do after each field strip. I had the decocker go wiggly on me one time when the roll pin moved out of position and the plate worked loose.

While we're all confessing, I also had a little oops with my USPc. It was in the glove compartment, and I put it in my inside jacket pocket when going into the house. When I closed the car door, I caught my jacket on it, and USP went flying out to land butt first on the concrete driveway. No discharge, and no damage other than cosmetic on the safety level and the lanyard loop. I suppose I could replace those small parts, but it is my daily carry gun, so looks don't matter too much to me.

About the story of the HK rep

I am sure it is total BS, but if anyone threw a loaded firearm down range, they should be fired at the minimum, if not beaten. That is one of the most dangerous, stupid things I have ever heard. I trust that Glocks or an HK wouldnt go off if I were to drop them, but to try and prove it is insane.

Just to be sure that it can take the abuse, take it outside and kick it around the yard for a while and then go shooting without cleaning it first.:p
