Double stack 1911

Hard to beat an STI. These are the guys who invented the 2011 which has gone to dominate the Limited and Open divisions of USPSA over the last 15+ years. I have 4 with a fifth on order. Needless to say I've been an STI fan for many years. Great pistols with a lifetime warranty.
 
I have an STI Edge which is an IPSC ready gun. The have a double recoil spring and are a pleasure to shoot. The grips are pretty darn big though so try to check one out before you buy one.
 
STI makes great stuff but never fit my hand as well as a para. Personal preference. I have small hands and sti felt awkward. Too square for me. Last time I checked (many years ago) you couldn't get a dble stack for less than 1k.
 
I guess I am old school. If it is a double stack, then it ain't a 1911.

I know that they have been out for a while, but I also have trouble with the concept of a 9mm 1911.

Again, if it ain't 45 ACP, it ain't a 1911.

Well Dufus,
You got me on both counts. Technically, the STI claims that is is a 2011 and not a 1911. I also have a 9mm 1911 from Springfield. Great shooting gun by the way.
 
Everyone knows it's not the jmb design. But neither are beavertail grip safety's, bomar sights, magwells, extended thumb safety's etc. They are all arguable enhancements or improvements to the original. Probably all things jmb would embrace being the innovator he was. I don't think it's sacreligous. People are just trying to communicate what it is they are looking for.

How else would you describe it if you were looking for a wide body 1911 design pistol? We live in a world of abbreviation. Lol :-) etc. people want to communicate efficiently.
 
STI makes some damn good guns if you don't mind paying for them.

I have a neice that works for STI in Georgetown and the markups are almost 4x over cost. Makes me want to peeeeeuke.
