double rifle

a lot of headaches with this idea, just decided to shortened the barrel and use it with 45 Colt bullets as a self-defense double rifle and still could fire 410 shells

Dear Sir:
I've built 9.3X62, 9.3X64 and three 416 Taylors. (458 WM. necked down to 416) and just am slobering to find a real double rifle. It is a question worth asking the manufacturer if the shotgun would handle the pressures involved in these calibers. Oh! for a German Drilling from a German aviator!
Now, for a 45 Colt I don't see any trouble - but the liner must be a one piece job with the chamber actually cut in the liner metal! We don't want a "joint" to catch pressure.
In a double rifle made on a shotgun action the 9.3X74R would be good. The pressure is about 45,000 to 47,000 CUP. and would take a well made piece to stand it?
I think we're going to check with a manufacturer before trying anything.

Harry I have built a whole bunch of rifles in military actions and I do have a 416 Taylor in a Mauser 98k action since 1995 and shot a Bufalo with it (the photo you can see it in "The Hunt") for the moment it will take time so I can build the Double and the 9.3x74R is a perfect choice, Harry by the way taking advantage of your experience, What do you think of the .458WinMag neck down to .366
