Don't do what I did!

WD-40 gets a bad rap from because it works too good.

If you let it dissolve all the gunk and then let the gunk harden again you will get trouble.

Millions use it to great satisfaction. A few, who propagate OWT's probably can't even, or don't, brush their teeth.

Brake cleaner

I use brake cleaner on old all metal fishing reels. Works good. I know a guy that
used it on a Quatom reel made out of some kind of plastic. Turned it into sheep
snot. Also have worked on lots of 1100 Rems and 22 autos that have been
"cleaned" with WD40. This is usually done without taking gun apart, spray and
wipe jobs. WD dissolves residue, drains to back off action and into trigger group,
then hardens into a lump. Then you got problems. This is what causes 99% of
failure to fire in the 1100 Rem.

Sounds like the dash of my wife's car. Somebody put something other than the proper cleaner or treatment on the dash. The car wash that always does the cleaning swears that it was not their error. It is so bad, we might have to replace the dash. I have used everything imaginable on car dashes over the last 40 years. Never had anything like this happen.
