"Dog" Chapman to be extradited

Good, maybe this means his TV show will go away.

Otherwise, it's a shame that Mexico gets to have a double standard. Of course, our oligarchy likes their cheap labor which is why the US will continue to bend over for them.

I just like the irony that he jumped bail himself.

Double Standard

Elect Dog to the Head of the justice dept. Sounds like he's committed to the cause. Drug dealers would think twice, and so would all those other criminals who think you can just flee to Mexico, it reminds me of the two Border Patrol agents who are going to trail for killing a Mexican drug dealer. The Marshalls office should of refused the order.

Had Mexican authorities apprehended this rapist and refused to extradite him to the US per the mutual aggrement between the two nations would you still be crying foul?

Yes, DUH! Mexico has a history of looking the other way if you are wanted in the US, but you have a lot of money. If Mexico refuses to follow the extradition treaty whenever they feel like it, it is within our rights to break or ignore the treaty at our convenience.

Mexican law isn't worth the paper its printed on. Mexican law is how much money the policia decides to take on any given day

Money talks in Mexico. Andrew Luster was a multi-millionaire. You do the math. In this case, Mexican Law IS worth the paper it's printed on. That paper being cold, hard American Cash!

Also, Dog can't carry a firearm. He is a convicted Felon. IIRC convicted of accessory to Manslaughter or something in that arena...

What does that have to do with his actions?
Not a darn thing. It was a response to the original poster's question.
To keep in line with the forum rules, news says he's out on bail and cannot possess any firearms. He's an ex-con. Doesn't that mean he can't possess firearms already? Or does bounty hunting allow something?

Also along those lines, Dog has said that even if he were allowed to carry firearms, he wouldn't. And he doesn't allow anyone else on his crew to either. Whether or not this is a good choice is debatable, but his reasoning was that he didn't want things to ever escalate to the point where he needed a firearm.

In his mind, carrying a firearm creates a mindset of wanting to use it. I don't necessarily agree with that, but it's certainly food for thought from someone who deals with bad guys everyday.

He was cleared of that charge and given a congressional pardon (or whatever it's called). He can carry, but his personal choice is not to carry.

The latest news:

Update, Friday, September 15th, 2006

Dog, Leland and Tim were all released on bail on Friday, September 15th, 2006, as the judge concluded they are not flight risks. While out on bail, they will be required to remain in the state and wear electronic monitoring devices until they return to court for extradition hearings to face trial in Mexico. No date has been set for those hearings.

I would assume any more info will be found at his site http://www.dogthebountyhunter.com/fanclub/Club/FreeTheDog.php

Personally, I'm glad he got Luster off the streets. When Luster was taken into US custody, they (the Mexican govt) searched his residence only to find yet MORE tapes of women being tortured and raped. One of the victims, who was Lusters ex, is doing what she can to help Chapman. I'm guessing since Luster is the heir of Max Factor, that $$$$ is making it's way to the Mexican govt.

I am not in favor of having Dog, Leland, and Tim sent back to Mexico. If it weren't for them, God only knows how many more women would've been Lusters victim.... that's a fact whether you like the Chapmans or not.

oldbill,

You say that if you break Mexican laws, you go to Mexican jail...

The illegal Mexican immigrant who shot and killed the cop in Houston recently, he was a child molester, right? In the U.S.? (I'm assuming here, and could be wrong.) Did he do time in a U.S. jail? Nope. He was deported back to Mexico, and then he came back here again, and now he's a cop killer. And if by some screwup he ends up back in Mexico, they won't give him back to us because he now faces capital punishment.
