"Dog" Chapman to be extradited

You've probably already seen this. Mexico is demanding the extradition of Dog the bounty hunter because, according to them, he went down there and dragged back a rich-boy rapist. Hence the US Marshal jackbooted thugs apparently launched a no-knock raid.
"I was getting the children ready for school and the U.S. marshals burst in our door and they just came right in and took him," said Beth Chapman on MSNBC.

"He was in shock. He was, he was shocked. He was shocked and he was amazed that the marshal's service that came to get him didn't even treat him as kind as he treats his own prisoners."

So when does Mexico dictate US policy? Oh wait. It already does.
A U.S. warrant for their arrest was signed by a federal judge in Honolulu on Wednesday.

Bounty hunting is considered a crime in Mexico. At that time, Mexican prosecutors maintained that Luster's capture violated their sovereignty.

He could spend the next 9 years in a Mexican jail.

To keep in line with the forum rules, news says he's out on bail and cannot possess any firearms. He's an ex-con. Doesn't that mean he can't possess firearms already? Or does bounty hunting allow something?

Oh wait. It doesn't. Had Mexican authorities apprehended this rapist and refused to extradite him to the US per the mutual aggrement between the two nations would you still be crying foul?

They have to follow our rules but we don't have to follow theirs?

edit: also

him didn't even treat him as kind as he treats his own prisoners."
As kind??!? Hahahahahahahah oh please. If anyone here has watched his show y'all know how brutal he can be with them. not saying many of them aren't deserving but Chapman does not treat them with any kindness whatsoever so unless the Marshalls tore through his home and roughed him up a little then there's no way he was treated with less "kindness".

It isn't a done deal. He may never to go Mexico. He has to have a few court hearings in HI before they clear him to be shipped back. A couple of international law attorneys have stated they doubt he will be sent to Mexico. The crime is only a misdemeanor in Mexico and not a crime in the US. The most he can get is one year in jail.

Plus, given the illegal alien problem in the US, there would be one hell of an uproar if he was to be shipped back. They want a US citizen with a misdemeanor charge but none of their own citizens violating US law? Won't fly.

Considering the current issues with illegal criminal invaders and the Mexican government's interaction with our border patrol it seems like that might be a wise course on their part...

If it's an un-extraditable misdemeanor in Mexico, then why would the U.S. warrant for arrest have ever even issued? Doesn't make sense. Either it's an extraditable offense, or it's not. If it is, arrest him and extradite him. If it's not, leave him alone.

The Mexican government already does refuse to extradite their nationals (and US nationals with money, hence "the dogs" current problem) to the US if they would face life in prison or death penalty cases. Just last year an Illegal alien killed 2 Denver police officers, fled back to Mexico and the Government refused to extradite.

Last year, O'rielly had quite few cases where Mexico refuse extradition on a whole bunch of child molesters.

Redworm, what planet are you living on? If the Mexican government had arrested and extradited the rapist Chapman "kidnapped" there would be nothing to discuss at all. Because they wouldn't cooperate, he went in to get the guy. And your question should be "Since they don't play by the rules, why should we?" I wouldn't say they give the rules any consideration in their dealings with us.

I'm no fan of Chapman. He's a joke, looking like a TV wrestler, but I will say the few times I've been bored enough to watch his show, I've never witnessed him being anything but nice to the people he's caught. Way more so than they deserve and much nicer than I would be. I can't help but wonder what's behind your protestations but I suspect it's something between a lack of respect for authority and trolling. I think some where a bridge is lonely.

If you break mexican laws you go to mexican jail. It does not matter if what you are doing seems to be the right thing or if you have the power to hunt people down in your own country. When you cross the border the rules change. Mexico is a sovereign state, even if they do have some serious problems...

He needs to go to vocabulary jail, anyway. Lock him up untill he stops calling everyone "bra" a dozen times in every sentance.

Yeah, we stop the aid to Mexico and they, in turn, demand that we pay up on all our debt they hold in the form of U.S. Treasury notes, etc. That fight would be a real hoot, and probably cause the market to tank a bit......

Dog Chapman committed a small offense in Mexico to capture a three-time convicted serial rapist. Dog drug the little silver-spoon-sucking makeup-wearing waste of skin back here, and put him away for 124 years! In my books, Dog's a hero. If he goes to jail, he's a martyr for a good cause.

Who cares about Mexico! If those whiny little maggots had done a better job policing their OWN population, this wouldn't have been necessary. If they want to be a sovereign nation, then let's wall-up the border, and we'll see how long it takes the people in that third-world cancer of a country to starve to death!

Personally, I'd rather not do that. I like people, and I don't want them to starve to death. I think those folks in Mexico should have every right to come here, work hard, and make a better life for themselves. But, Mexico needs to get OVER itself, in a HURRY, and recognize that we OWN their sorry little patch of desert. And, the U.S. needs to reciprocate Mexico's policy of non-extradition. Cooperation for a brighter future is a two-way street!

How about a fair trade?....

We give you the criminal mastermind Dog the Bounty Hunter.....

...and you give us the criminal mastermind Vincente Fox.

:D

You guys kill me. There's all sorts of people here that love to post how if the government will only take their guns from their cold dead hands, or other ridiculous statements.

And yet here these same people are going to let an american citizen rot for bringing the worst form of criminal back to justice because our own state department wouldn't do it.

Mexican law isn't worth the paper its printed on. Mexican law is how much money the policia decides to take on any given day.

Those of you who think he got what he deserved need a serious check on your moral compass and personally make me sick.

I haven't been up to date with the news so what's happening right now with Mr. Chapman? Still talking to lawyers and such? Are they going to extradite him now?

I realised that this hasn't had much media attention. Weird huh?

wtf? o_O

why do conservatives whine and moan about the evil liberal media not giving things like this enough attention when in reality it's the conservatives themselves not bothering to pay attention to the media? this has been reported by every major news outlet. it was mentioned on CNN, NBC, Fox, CBS, ABC, BBC, CBC, MSNBC, the New York Time....hell, his family's even putting on a special on A&E, a channel owned by a liberal media conglomerate.

Well I've been working lately so that's probably why I feel as if it hasn't had much media attention. Oh well, hope it works out well for Dog.

understandable, it just bugs me when conservatives get a case of selective hearing when they want to rip on the liberal media. it's the same thing they accuse liberals of doing in many other situations
