Does your 20-gun safe really hold 20 guns?

MY Canon safe is probably designed for less than 12 rifles, but with some creative cramming, I currently have 37 rifles, 24 handguns, and 2 shotguns, plus 4 Persian carpets, and a bunch of other stuff like camera, spotting scope, legal documents (divorce decree, thank G*D). the carpets make good padding, about half of the rifles are surplus military, so I don't mind if they get scratched a little. the good stuff are all in some kind of padded case. Of course if I want that rifle in the back, it's a half hour unpacking and repacking, but I get to fondle everything on the way in and out.
 
I don't remember seeing this mentioned ... if you use those "sack-ups" or similar storage bags, you can stack rifles more tightly without damaging anything. Seems to work a bit better.

Best thing to do is show you. All the rifles are set in two lines, facing the front and back of the safe and offset. Handguns are standing up, offset and in line. This 16x22x60 safe is holding over 30 firearms. Got another just like it too.

Do I know how to pack or what! :D
