I think they are beautiful guns and they "fit" me. I do like the vented rib, the underlug barrel and I prefer the royal blue finish. I prefer the balance of the 4" but the 6" handles nicely for me as well. I own both sizes. To me, there is nothing else like them. Some foks have their 'druthers and this is one of mine.

I do have a 1982 blued 6 inch and it is the most accurate revolver I have ever shot, do have S & W revolvers (lots) bought new in the 70's but they do not group like the Python.

Does the Colt Python Appeal to You?

You bet! I've never owned on or even held one but I saw one unfired for sale with bluing that looked about a foot deep. A little rich for my blood but most definitely appealing.

In a word YES. I own a couple of token S&Ws but almost everything else I own is Colt. People should NOT confuse the Diamondbacks action for the pythons. The Diamondback was never as smooth as a python nor was it intended to be. It never was given the hand attention like the python.

To me, they are visually very appealing. Mechanically, not so much. I prefer the action on a Smith. I grew up shooting Smiths, a Colt feels wierd to me. I've owned several, still own one. Its a dandy piece of American gun making history and worth keeping for that reason alone.
