Does Glock have a cult-like following ??

A G34 with a KKM barrel, good sights and the 3.5 lb trigger is quite accurate. Then again, it's not a box stock Glock anymore.

1911 infidels!
Beware...
The only true ugly sister is the auto.
Long live the revolver.
The one true gun.
Praise the Wheelgun and pass the ammo.
:D

I don't like Glocks but I respect them. I carried 1911s for 26 years but switched to Glocks a couple years ago.

They are about as reliable as any gun out there (although nothing is perfect).

They don't rust (except aftermarket steel sights and that funny little slide stop).

They aren't particularly accurate, but they are accurate enough and that's all that is required.

They don't fit my had particularly well but with enough practice I have learned to shoot them as well as I once shot 1911s.

I thought their trigger pull sucked until I started thinking of it as the best DA revolver trigger I had ever used. It has gotten better and easier since that revelation.

Finally, on the rare occasion they break I don't need a gunsmith to fix them. All parts of a Glock are plug in (no hand fitting).

I carry a Glock now. My wife carries a Glock. My older sister carries a Glock. I recommend them to others. I still don't like them (they really are ugly) but I do respect them.

I think ArmySon hit it on the head

For those that say there is no Glock cult, just hang out on Glocktalk for awhile and you'll see. I always have to shake my head when I see people flamed on that board when they talk about any of the shortcomings of Glock pistols. You don't see that on the 1911 forum. People there realize that the 1911 design (as with any design) has flaws.

I think it does come down to the age demographic of Glock owners. A lot of kids get a Glock as their first handgun because of the high visibility in movies and the media. As a result, they don't have experience with other types of pistols. Don't get me wrong, not all glock owners fit in this catagory, just the cultish ones.

It isn't so much cult-like as being in a cult implies some sort of religious belief and I don't think Glockers are religious. No, I think it would count as commercial or corporate brainwashing and fanaticism. Then again, there are the P32 people, 1911 people, AK people, 1911 people, I think most of the Raven devotees have died in gun-related 'accidents', and then there are various other followings, as of the Order of the Browning High Power, the Bovine devotees of the Raging Bull, Python Snake Clan, and the like.

For Glock owners, this month's drills will be from the lotus position...

I own about 15 different firearms in different configurations. Of those, my G21 is hands-down my favorite.

As was mentioned earlier, it's such a very good thing for us that there are so many finely-made firearms from which we can choose to suit our wants and needs.

I don't think Glock's are "the best", but they certainly are for me, and that's all that matters in my book.

Glocks suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......JK. I wonder if this post is referring to the people over at Glocktalk who most of the time attack you if you praise/prefer another gun. Me, I like my HK's and shoot 'em about 10 times better than a Glock which is why I sold my 17. That doesn't mean HK's are better than Glock's but HK's are better FOR ME than Glocks. Most of this stuff's personal preference anyway. Glocks suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I just love saying that):D

Ugly?

IMPOSTER!!!!

Just a note here. There's a post supposedly from me above. I never wrote it. Never even SAW this thread until a TFL alert hit my mailbox...

Never owned (nor shot) a Glock, although I HAVE been considering the sub-compacts. And it's my wife who owns/shoots an H&K (USP 40C). Me, I prefer my Beretta or my 1911.;)

Just thought I should set the record straight...

Why no (he says, as he looks at me through glazed eyes) there is no such thing as a Glock Collective. Now get out of here human (as he raises the Glock pistol that has been permanently attached to his right arm) before you are assimilated!!! Resistance is futile!!!!:D

Cultlike perhaps......

They are not pretty...just utilitarian. No frills, just performance.

Like anything else, they are not for everyone!

They are also DEAD RELIABLE

I have seen several quotes from major firearms trainers that state categorically that the ONLY gun they NEVER have problems with......are Glocks

I'm not sure if they are a full fledged cult....just to be safe, don't drink the koolaid at their meetings...which come in plastic cups anyway....

and if you go to thebreadforum.com, you'll see sliced bread deserves all it's accolades...not only can you make sandwiches with it, but toast, croutons, bread crumbs...the list is endless

BTW, please remove the above picture...yuck!;)
