Dont get me wrong cause I like Glocks but I dont think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread...If you ask most Glock owners which gun is the best for accuracy...Glock wins...Reliability...Glock of course...Prettiest...They think Darth Vader is cute so you know the answer to that one...Come on...enough is enough...Sometimes you just have to laugh...

PS-Maybe in the near future Glock will provide a"Learn to speak Austrian in 3 easy steps"cassette tape with each new purchase !!:D

We can't help it if we have the best firearm made.
Hey, don't shoot the messenger.
Ever notice how people who don't love Glocks, usually hate them?
:p
BTW, sliced bread is WAY overated.

I think that many pistols have a cult following, many of us worship at the church of the 1911, others at the church of the Glock, and I see a church of the Sig down the street... :)

I don't even think about the arguments anymore. I have Glocks & 1911's, and I must get a Sig or two soon. :D

Everyone is defensive about their guns, cars, and women. Some like em ugly but serviceable. Some like em high maintenance but beautiful. Some folks like em pretty much middle of the road, works great, but requires the occasional maintainence to keep running.

And some have taken advantage of a factory recall on an unserviceable model. Yes..guns, cars..and WOMEN! :eek:

Are they the greatest thing since sliced bread?..no. Maybe Texas Toast...it's a close race. :D I carry a Glock 80 percent of the time because it just happens to have all the features that I require out of a carry gun. Whether it is made by Glock, Sig, HK, or any other manufacturer is irrelevant to me. I'll buy from whoever makes the best product to fit my needs.

I am multidenominational.

First = Makarov
Second = Glock
Third = Keltec
Fourth = Mossberg
Fifth = S&W Model 41 the only Walther (other than TPH) and the only Smith I like at all and it' both; a Walther design that somehow S&W didn't muck up.

And then I visit the other congregations as well....

All churches are cults to all the other churches... and so it goes with guns for some.

For years I was never aware of "love" or "cultism" about certain pistols. Cars, yeah, but pistols? And then I found TFL. Sheesh!

I happen to like the way a 1911 Colt Gummint fits my hand, particularly since Glocks weren't even a gleam in the inventor's eye when I started shooting. :) Since I prefer the aesthetics of the Colt to others, and since no Colt I've owned has ever proven unreliable at all, why should I bother to change? IF YOU don't like the Colt, all I can say is don't get one. End of problem.

For those who are comfortable with the Glock, and are content with the appearance and all that, I think they should buy Glocks and enjoy them.

In other words, I just don't understand the problem.

It would be a boring world if there was only one kind of pistol. Too many gun owners feel a strange need to "defend the tribe" when it comes to discussing the merits of handgun brands. You drop $500 on a pistol, you have to defend your choice when somebody else suggests it might be less than perfect.

I like Glocks for their durability, Berettas for their looks, SIGs for their accuracy, 1911s for their shootability, and most everything else because most of them go "bang" when asked. It all boils down to personal preference, and while I have my favorites, I realize that it's an emotional thing and not "provable" to anyone else. Some things just work for me, and I realize that they may not work for others. Cults are dumb, whether they're centered around pistols, comets or TV shows. There is no answer to the question "Which is the best handgun?"

What, a Glock cult? Nonsense. Just because Glock owners get out their prayer rugs three times a day and bow towards Austria doesn't mean they have gone overboard or anything.

We just know a good thing when we stumble upon it. I wouldn't call it a cult following though. If it were, us Glock lovers wouldn't be able to own 1911's too, would we?

:D The fumes from the Tupperware outgassing softens their brains...?:p

Seriously, I've shot Glocks enough to really like them, although I don't own one. Don't plan to either, I have all the handguns I need, now concentrating on serious shootin' irons...:D

To the comments on "all the handguns I need..." comment:
Read need , not want...

Look, are you going to admit that your sister is butt ugly or stupid?

Heck no!

Some like athletic, some like tall and some like short, some like chubby, some like BBWs, and some like twigs.

Glocks are great guns but if you get past the posturing, you'll find that most shooters won several good brands of guns.

I love my G19, but don't get me wrong I also love the ergonomics and accuracy of my CZ75B. I appreciate Glock for its durability, weight, and its utilityness (if thats even a word). But I am not one that would swear by Glock so much, that it was the only brand I would own and bash everyone who uses something else.

Gun Worship

What Swifter said,
The fumes from the Tupperware outgassing softens their brains...?
:D
The sun don't rise and set on any of my guns in particular. I like each for it's own merit and the asthetic value for which I purchased it. I do own a Glock but I don't bow to the banner.:)

I don't think it has a cult following but let me quote from the book of Glock 9:45

“…and the darkness shall spread through the land, but there will be those who shall shine it and plate it. Be not afraid for it shall function.
Take the darkness in hand and master it, for once you enter the darkness and see the light no other gun quite feels right.”

And I really don't see how anybody could say that there is a cult following. Well, maybe those 1911 guys, y'all know how they are.

[edit] poor spelling again.

There are several young individuals that only own Glocks. It's human nature to defend their only gun. Obviously, when this happens, a degree of bias takes place.

Glocks are trully a fine engineering marvel. Are they the best thing since sliced bread? No. I never cared for sliced bread :D

However, they have their place in the gun universe. When it comes to ruggedness and reliability, Glocks rank right at the top. In addition, I don't baby my Glocks like I do some of my other guns. I just take em to the range, shoot em and chuck em back in the safe :)

A cult? Ya there's a cult but not all Glock owners act that way.

My name is blades67* and 9X19's* sister is stupid and ugly!

I like Glocks

I am one of the rare people that don't love or hate Glocks--most people I know have a black or white attitude regarding Glocks. I like them, but I certainly don't love them.

The things I like about Glocks are:

Top notch durability
Low Bore axis (helps control recoil)
Simple (few parts)
Easy to detail strip, also easy to field strip
Generally very reliable (except for when limpwristed)
Easy to shoot quickly (they point well and the trigger reset is short)

The things I dislike about Glocks:

They are butt ugly! (subjective and IMO)
Balance (polymer guns don't have good balance IMO--they are too top heavy)
Not the best trigger pull
Only combat accurate in general
Light weight (I prefer heavy all steel guns except in the case of CCW guns--such as the G26/G27)
Polymer sights! :barf:
