A friend of mine collects guns that have a blue and stainless versions,,,
He has some nice pairs like:

Model 29/Model 629
Model 19/Model 66
Model 34/Model 63

Myself I collect matching pairs in rimfire/centerfire such as:

Model 15/Model 18
CZ-75B/CZ-75B Kadet
Beretta Model 85BB/Model 87

I have seven such sets,,,
I'm currently in the process of making cases for them.

I own a Model 629,,,
I have a bid at Gunbroker for a S&W Model 63,,,
I want to create a cased set with S&W Models 629, 686/620, 67, & 63,,,
Just for grins I might include an NAA mini chambered for the uber-powerful .22 Short.

I'm just curious if any of you good folk assemble purposeful sets,,,
And if you do, what they might be.

Hello BigJimP,,,

Those be some nice collections Jim.

Someday I hafta get me one of those Model 19's,,,
I'm a big fan of the S&W K-frame guns.

That would make a nice cased set,,,
Model 15, 18, and 19.

Dangit!,,,
Just added another to the gotta-get-me-one list. :D

I've had the urge to.

I wanted to get the American Derringer DA 9mm, a 9mm revolver, and Marlin 9mm Camp Carbine.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to have all those things but it seemed to be sort of "set" in my mind smallest to biggest - all 9mm.

I also wanted to get all the variation of the H&K P7 psitols, including the .380 and .22LR

My only problem with creating "sets" of guns is that each piece in the set costs money.

Which I don't have...

Hello C0untZer0,,,

That 9mm set sounds sweet,,,
Especially if you tied them together with matching leather.

I've done a similar thing with a rifle/pistol/knife.

I made a matching rifle sling, knife sheath, cartridge belt, and holster,,,
They are for my H&R Handi-Rifle in .357 Magnum,,,
My Colt Trooper Mk-III in .357 Magnum,,,
And my trusty Buck camp knife.

I also made a similar rig for my H&R Sportster in .22 LR,,,
And my Colt Trooper Mk-III in .22 LR

The people at my Rifle & Pistol club,,,
They give me a lot of good natured teasing.

According to them I'm the only member,,,
Who treats his firearms as fashion accessories.

I may not be he best shot on the firing line,,,
But when it comes to looking good,,,
I be one stylin' old fart.

And unfortunately yes,,,
Money is the stopper.

In the nineties i started a collection of Glocks, i fell out of love with the brand fairly quickly.

Since then i try and get ' functional sets' of pistols i simply cannot do without namely Browning Hi Powers, Cz 75s and 1911s.

I will try and get at least 3 examples of each. One to carry/home defence, one for competition and one new spare in case something horrible happens.

I have seen massive collections in my time but Aarond, i must say yours is my favourite.

Hello Amin,,,

Spare guns?

That's very decadent my friend,,,
I like it! :D

I am glad that your Glock insanity,,,
Was a temporary affliction.

Hi-Powers, CZ's, & 1911's,,,
They don't get any better than that.

Dangit Jim,,,

I've successfully avoided "needing" a Model 19/66,,,
Now you put that pic in front of me. :(

It good to know I'm not the only one with K-frame Fever.

A friend of mine has a nice set,,,

He's really not a gun guy,,,
But he likes to do stuff with his son.

He and his son will go plinking at least once a week,,,
Unlike me, he only lives 3 miles from our range.

He purchased two identical Beretta NEOS pistols,,,
He has them in a presentation case he got from Cabela's.

Open the case and you see:
Two 6" Beretta NEOS pistols,,,
Two 100 round packs of Mini-Mags,,,
And two extra magazines for each pistol.

He calls it his modern day Dueling Pistols,,,
Super quality time with his son.

Other than an 870 for home defense,,,
These are his only guns.

Sorry ...didn't mean to tempt you / or tip you over ..../ well, yes I did, I'm lying...

but then you should know better than to ask gun guys ...about collections .../ " Hi, my name is Jim, ... we're here to help you buy whatever you want - forget what you need - that has nothing to do with it !! " :D

We are all enablers,,,

I love the posts where someone will ask,,,
"Should I buy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,?"

Of course we are all going to say Buy the Gun,,,
Unless it's a Hi-Point. :p

Seriously though,,,
I've avoided buying a Model 19 revolver,,,
Simply because I'm not a huge fan of .357 magnum.

But I suppose someday I'm gonna hafta get one,,,
Just so my other K-frames aren't lonely.

Theme

Mine are based on theme's. Western, Military, Gangster, etc.

Aarond: I would of thought you would of had a mdl 19 with a 4" barrell to go with your mdl 18!! I'd love to see those rigs you made!!

Not sure if this was what you had in mind....I did it more as an experiment to see just how versatile this old Series 70 Combat Commander could be. It's been tricked out with a Wilson match barrel and bushing, beavertail grip safety and combat sights, but the add'l slides and barrels were my innovation. It shoots the original .45 ACP, 9 mm Luger, .38 Super and .22 LR...and would conceivably be the last of my .45's to be sold if the SHTF. Rod...BTW, I've also got a thing about handgun and rifle combinations...same round that fits both guns.

Hello rodfac,,,

Actually, that's precisely what I had in mind.

I am curious as to what people "assemble",,,
For a pleasurable shooting kit.

Come the apocalypse,,,
You can find ammo anywhere.

Aarond

aarond...I also like the rifle handgun combinations...have several.

A .32-20 S&W 4th Model Hand Ejector with a 5" barrel paired with a well used but not abused Winchester M-92...20" octagon barrel on the latter.

Several .44 Magnums (Two Rugers, and a S&W M-29) paired with a 1964 Marlin 336 in .44 Magnum. This particular pairing is my standard for deer hereabouts. I've also got four .44 Specials that work almost as well, but the 336 carrier isn't quite as sure when feeding them.

Also the usual variety of .22 LR's for both the short guns and a half dozen rifles. My favorite is a Ruger Single Six with both cylinders and paired with a Winchester M-62A...the latter fitted with a tang sight for add'l accuracy.

Also looking for the elusive Marlin 1894 in .41 Magnum to match my S&W M-57 and a Ruger Flat Top Blackhawk in that same useful caliber.

It's an interesting side light to our hobby...Here's a pic of the .44 combination. I made the belt and holster (copied from the Duke's rig in many of his pictures), son #1 built the knife and its sheath. The rifle is my much loved Marlin. That Ruger Flat Top Anniversary .44 sports a pair of crab apple grips that I made up a year ago. The buckle was salvaged from the off side stirrup leather on an old McClellan cavalry saddle.

Best Regards, Rodfac

I have 2 Royal Blue Pythons that were made in 1978. One has a 6 inch barrel and the other a 4 inch barrel. I would love to find a 2 1/2 inch barrel Royal Blue Python made in 1978 that I could afford. Right now though that may be quite awhile. The rest of my handgun collection consists mostly of guns I carried on duty during my days as an armed Security Officer.

Hello rodfac & 357 Python,,,

Hello rodfac:

That rifle-pistol-knife set is sweet rodfac,,,
I too like using found hardware.

I have a box full of antique buckles and hardware,,,
Just waiting for the proper application to appear.

Hello 357 Python:

Good luck finding that 2.5" snake,,,
Shucks, a set like that might out your grandkid through college someday.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who likes sets.

Aarond
