Does anyone carry more than one reload? Does anyone carry no reloads?

It's been a long day and the little one just got up to play ... I normally carry one reload (either in a spare magazine, speedstrip, etc.). Just curious if anyone carries more than one reload under normal circumstances (I'm not talking about trips here but regular everyday concealed carry)? Does anyone carry no reloads? Why?

Two spare mags every day!

As a general rule, I carry no reloads. Depending on how I'm dressed, I have 5 or 6 rounds of .38+P HydraShok, or 8 rounds of .45 HydraShok. Since, as a private citizen, my job is not to go looking for trouble, my major concern is to have adequate firepower to extricate myself from an unpleasant social encounter only, and with these choices I feel able to do so...

FUD I pack six extra mags two for each of the three guns I carry along with my three CCW'S. All the mags in the guns have factory ammo and the other six have reloads in them. :p

Three guns, six extra mags..... boy, I hope you never fall in the water! Or do you conceal them under a flotation vest? :)

Carry gun is S&W M342 AirLite Ti, carry two speedloaders with Federal 125 grain JHP Nyclads.

It would depend on my situation.

Almost daily, I carry my Taurus M85ul (I know you love that thing don't you FUD?) with no extra ammo. I figure if I can't thwart a crime with a small gun and 5 shots, I can always run. (Bad logic, I know) I don't usually carry any additional ammo with me when I carry concealed. However, I ususally carry additional ammunition in the car. For the Taurus, I'll carry two speedloaders (as soon as I buy some) and I usually carry at least one clip for the automatics. If I leave town/state for an excessive distance.. I'll carry more. Went to NC this past weekend and took a box of 50 .38spl with me. However, it was a box of reloads that I intended on shooting.. does that count?? :D

Hey FUD, you got that laser sight in yet???

[/quote] Of course I got the laser sights, I posted a detailed report the last time you asked (it's always a good idea to check back on a thread when you ask a question ;) I answered you within less than two hours of your post -- that was almost exactly a week ago down to the minute).

With regard to the speedloaders that you're gonna get (or are in the process of getting) for your 85, you may also want to consider some speedstrips for it as well. They are not as fast as speedloaders but they are flat instead of round and you can easily conceal them on your person without creating an extra bulge in an unwanted area and they're better then just carrying loose ammo around. Regards, FUD.

Carry SIG P220 daily, with two spare mags in paddle carrier.

on person I carry my Makarov with an extra mag. In my 'carry around bag' [[has photo gear and extra bug-out supplies]] I have three spare loaded mags, three spare empties and a box of ammo plus my bowie knife. :)

Hey man.. I only got so much time to waste around here.. and if you haven't noticed.. I post quite a bit. And since I have the memory capacity of a 3yr old.. I couldn't remember which post it was that I asked that question.. so ya know.

At any rate.. I think I'll stick to the speed loaders. I tend to "modify" them a bit to make them fit my needs. As for that bulge in my pocket.. "Naw baby.. I ain't packin', but I sure am glad to see ya!" :D :D :D

My usual carry is S&W Model 36 (.38 Spl.) or S&W Model 60 (.357 Mag). Generally I carry 2 speedloaders loaded with whatever is in the gun at the time. I also have a plastic box of 10 CCI .38/.357 shotshells in the glove box of my vehicle.

I don't carry any reload. A full 10rds in the Glock 30 is all I feel the need for. If I'm in a really bad area, I'll throw an extra mag in my pocket. Unlike a police officer carrying 2-5 extra mags on duty, I have the luxury of legally leaving a bad situation.

I strongly advise anyone carrying a firearm for self defense, to ALWAYS carry at least one reload, pistol or revolver.

I know of two people who were killed because of not having a reload for their handguns. These were NOT LEO shootings.

It's always fun to imagine various situations we would "handle", but when the real thing happens, all your imagined scenarios are worthless, because the long odds are, nothing will be as you thought it would be.

No matter what, one should never forget that Mr. Murphy's Law can come into play.

(By the way, those of you who carry a pistol, make it a USUAL practice to immediatley clear a malfuction of your pistol and get back in the fight???)

P-32 with the 7 rounds in the mag - chamber empty. Extra mag in the ever-present planner. Glock in the car with 2 mags. If that don't get me out of trouble, I run like hell!

Hello JB. I was wondering if you could give some details of the times when a lack of a reload was fatal? I know a drawn out firefight is possible but always thought it would be a very rare event. Thanks, Griz

If I can`t take care of myself with my Hi-Power and the 13HP rounds,I am in the wrong part of town. And need my M14 with a half dozen 20 round clips.

I don`t think I need to say anymore.

It's a bunch easier to clear a jam/failure to feed in an autoloader if you have a spare mag ..... !
