Does anyone actually CC an N frame?

I'm getting a 625 into the condition I want it for IDPA. I feel an obligation to carry it. I've been using Kydex IWB for everything else that I've carried, mostly large autos. Most holsters locate the trigger right under the belt. I'd like the trigger a bit higher.

What do the rest of you do?

I tote a 4" Model 57 on occasion. It rides in a PWL pancake holster. IWB is possible with guns of that size...I was able to carry my 4" Colt Anaconda that way. For comfort, however, I prefer pancake style holsters for a revolver of that size.

Most of the N-frame holsters I've seen would have the guns being used during colder seasons when more bulky/concealing clothing is worn. All my N-frames are square butt though so they likely will print a little easier than round butt N-frames, still both are pretty big guns.

I'm betting most of the people carrying N-frames on a fairly regular basis are bigger folks, not "fat folk" but just bigger and thicker.

I wouldn't mind seeing what holsters get recommended, I've got a 4inch model 29 that I honestly wouldn't mind having a decent concealed carry holster for.

I've carried my 3" 629 under a light windbreaker or fleece jacket in a PWL pancake holster. It rides high and keeps the butt of the pistol tucked in well. I look forward to trying my new 4" 625 in it as soon as the weather permits.

I've carried my 625-6/.45 Colt Mountain Gun on several occasions this summer in an OWB pancake. No problem except for the slight extra thickness imposed by a larger cylinder, but a little adjustment tucks the butt in and the weight is just not a big deal.

A simple short-sleeve, large-cut "camping" shirt in plain or patterned design over a white or colored t-shirt works just fine if you wear it unbuttoned. I find a lot of my stuff at name-brand outlets such as Nautica, Hilfiger or Polo. Sheeple don't seem to pay any attention at all if you choose such brands and reasonably follow "current" fashion.

Quite a grin quotient when your buddies want to know what you're carrying on a given day.

Most frequent comment on seeing the MG..."Holy Sh*t".

I carry my 4" 625 in a what I suspect is an old Bucheimer duty holster. It hangs off the belt and actually, for me, conceals quite easily. It was ten bucks on eBay and since I spent all of my money on the weapon and new rosewood grips I had to make a concession on the holster. It works very well, though. I'm a slim, slim man, however, and with the 625 and a 31" ASP (a gift, I used to be happy with a 21" but now I see how 10" more of reach might be useful) and the evening back-up of a Kimber Compact I'm still about 5 pounds short of my ideal weight.
Long story short, I do it easily and daily.

When carrying my 3" 27 I place it in one of my Kramer IWB that are designed for revolvers.or if out side the belt I use an old Jackass pancake just back of the center line of the hip, large loose shirts cover well.

5' 6", 145 lbs dressed n armed.
4" 29s or 5" 27s, OWB high and forward canted, Arizona summers. Fall and winter are a cinch. I usually carry the big guns at the 4 and 8 oclock positions. Good belt a MUST.

6', 180 - I wear a 625-6 MG in a Derry Gallegher "Jeffee" (Avenger pattern) with his full muzzle-rear rake. The best combo I have ever worn with a large revolver was a Sparks PMK, with a 3" 24. I let them go in a fit of trade lust some years back, and am in the process of reversing that sad error. The only IWB I have heard good things about, with an N Frame, is the Alessi "Hideout". The belt attachment is just off the cylinder bulge, and the backing is a flat piece designed to spread the contact and weight. It is on the list :)

I am waiting on the arrival of a Milt Sparks Versa Max 2 for my 4" model 57. Hopefully it will work out. If not I will keep trying till I find the right one. I currently use the VM2 for my para P-14 and it works fine.

When I lived where it got cold I sometimes worn a 3.5" M27 under a jacket. Now that I live in the steamy South where minimal clothing is required, I usually have to go off the body carry (I drap a school bag over my shoulder and nobody pays any attention to it). This allows me carry pretty much anything I want. This past week I have been toting a 4" nickeled Python just because I felt like it.

Thank you one and all. This is just the information I was wanting. For info, I'm 6' and 185. Down from 250 6 months ago. I've found my ability to conceal has changed considerably for the better.
Keep the comments coming.

i don't know if they're still available, but i really like the S&W Performance Center 657 with a 2 5/8"barrel.
i'm thinking of trading in some stuff, and the 657 looked pretty good to me. i would replace the grips with Spegel boot grips, mainly because i like the feel much more than hogues.
we don't have CCW here in central Ohio yet, but i use to tote several different large framed guns when i worked in retail(transporting money);including N frames.
i'm thinking along the lines of a Mitch Rosen belt slide rig. i like large framed snubbies anyway, just for the handling and feel.
i'm about 5'10 and 175-80#now. when i carried i was about 145.

A .41 magnum M&P (58) is my usual carry. Either IWB, or sometimes OWB. Should be much easier in the winter, but can be done in the summer.

A S&W Mountain Gun in .45 Colt, Kramer cowhide belt scabbard, stout gun belt, two speed loaders and 18 225 grain Silver tips. This all conceals well under a vest or unbuttoned shirt. Very comfy and comforting.

Riddle,
Looks exactly like my rig-LH Kramer, S&W 29 5"! Usually only wear while hunting, but conceals very well under an untucked flannel chamois shirt or heavier.:D
