Do you understand your rights?

Because the number 1 priority of The Man is to return to his family alive and in 1 piece after his shift is over. Your rights are secondary to that priority. Everyone is a "suspect" until proven otherwise.

He speaks the truth. It should not be that way, but it is. And the above is why there will always be an US vs Them attitude. Shameful.

im with snacktrack

lets say he was trespassing to land, first thats a weak misdemeanor to start with if thats all they did. the letter of the law says hook and book em. the spirit of the law says realize these are just a bunch of kids doing what kids do. is it unreasonable for the officer to treat someone with a knee to the back? yes and no, yes if he feels he was in a position in which he didnt want to lose control of the situation, and no these kids were scared out of their mind! what time of day or night was it could possible affect how your treated. also if this was the officers only excitement all week and he wanted to "power trip", so sorry for you. to me thats what it sounds like, but every situation have different circumstances which require different ways of going about them. the best way to avoid police encounters is dont put yourself in any situation which they would have to respond.

thank goodness there is someone that agrees with me

Thanks Josuff. Im glad you agree with me.

No one is condoning you for doing admittedly illegal things. What they are saying is that you, yourself, admit you were in the process of comitting a crime, and couldn't produce ID, and then complaining about how your rights were violated because you were treated like a criminal.

If this was the case, then why didnt the officer just arrest me then? If the whole thing is about acting like a criminal, why didnt he place me under arrest?

To be honest I would have much rathered preffered that, then to be put in the dangerous situation he put me in.

snacktrack,
So exactly what did you state in your formal complaint about the illegal way you were mistreated?
Exactly what was the officer's response to the formal complaint?
You did file a complaint about the incident didn't you?

I guess you're just lucky you weren't getting ready to vandalize one of my construction sites. I can't stand vandals.

Couldn't agree more. Had one job site, in an old gravel pit, that was horrible. I'd spend the first 3 hours of every day sitting on the bulldozer, fixing the damage from people like snacktrack. I have no sympathy.

If I'm getting a bit heavy handed here, I ask forbearance. We're seeing lots of liberties taken in the L&P forum and it's moving off its stated mission.

Take this thread for instance:
It's purportedly asking where one might find info on personal rights. Yet, 70% of the opening post is dedicated to an anectdotal story about personal "mistreatment" over a decade ago. Little wonder that 90% of the responses speak to that same issue.

Snack-
Suggest you restart this thread with just the first paragraph from your opening post. Then, if you wish to debate your "persecution" at the construction site, start a second one. Let's not mix topics with red herrings, though. OK?

Thread closed.
