Do You Spread Gun Counter Myths?

But it will never go above the original plane of the barrel axis.

Everyone is correct depending on how they look at it. The force of gravity acting on the bullet is what creates the trajectory. No gravity would equate to a straight line.

Everything is falling toward the earth if not at the center. In fact the moon is falling toward the earth, but in it's path never allows it to reach the earth.

But I concede that yes, the bullet can travel physically higher than the physical height of the muzzle in terms of a measured distance from the ground to the muzzle. But, the bullets path will never cross the angle of the bore when fired. The distance between the angle of the bore and the bullet is increasing and continues to Increase for the duration of travel. That is falling, no matter how you look at it.

Anything can be propelled upward, but when the only force acting upon it is gravity, it is falling. No other outcome can be deduced other than falling.

Really just having fun, I think everyone understands what everyone is saying

We used to call the sound of a shotgun racking an "Idaho Burgler Alarm". It was always effective, in my own experience, to stop a couple of attempted B&Es, your experience may differ. That was Pre 911, of course, probably against the law now.

If the muzzle is 3 feet off the ground when fired and the bullet is 5 feet off the ground at the top of it's ark . How is the bullet "not" higher in flight then the muzzle ?

OK, now I see what you meant. It doesn't rise relative to the line of the bore, but it might very well at some point be higher in elevation than the muzzle.

We were talking about two different things. Glad we got it straightened out.

OK, now that the "rising bullet argument" is solved, let's discuss #2.

"Just owning a gun makes you safer."

To my way of thinking, no, it does not. Owning a gun AND knowing how to use it and being mentally prepared to use it should the situation arise are what make you safer or, put another way, it makes it less likely that you will be killed in an encounter.
