Do you name your guns?

Only one of my guns has a pet name, and that is my Model 36 J Frame---I call him "Socrates"--that is because he lives in a sock when he's not out with me.Sometimes I'm less formal, and call him "Sock Boy"--usually when I'm looking for him-like "where the hell are you Sock Boy"--Heh Heh "Mad ? Who,me?"

This thread recently came up on AR15.COM

Only my rifles have names, and they're all named "Betsy" like Davey Crockett's rifle.

No names for my pistols. They like being anonymous... they told me so. ;)

Well, I had never named a gun before until I got my current carry piece, a Colt 1991A1. At the time I acquired it, I was debating on another board with an anti- whose last name was Cate, so I named it in honor of him, and told him so. I call it, "The EradiCATEr." P*ssed him off no end. :p :p :p :p

Had a S&W Mod 4046 for awhile that I called "Jammer" because that's what it did best.

Custom DA 1991A1 "the machine" cuz its complex and wieghs a lot

870 with 20 inch deer barrel "thumper"

But as a rule i don't give my guns nicknames

If I ever get a M1911/A1, I'm going to call it a "commie blaster", because I used to call 1911s that nickname when I was a kid.

Well, I just don't consider a gun part of the family until it's been properly named.
Here are a few.

Dad has always lovingly called his .270 "The Meatstick". It's been keeping the freezer full for 20+ years.

My .270 is called Buster. Kinda old and heavy, but dead-on reliable.

My 7mm Mag is called Maggie, after mule that kicked the snot out my brother when we were kids.

An OLD, but very nice L.C. Smith SxS 20 Guage goes by "Elsie"

I have two Winchester 12 guage pump shotguns. one with an 18" barrel (riot-gun) and another with a 28" barrel. They are Laverne and Shirley.

My heavy barreled 22-250 is called Nickie. I put 5 shots under a nickel at 100yds.

And My P220 is called "Skunk F***er". I got "charged" by a skunk shortly after getting her, and pulled off a sweet double tap before the skunk could get a shot off ;). First shot hit the body, second in the head.

I just hope that none of my guns ever merit "up close and personal" nickname. "The Mindfuxxer" would be a fine name for any handgun used for ambushing enemy for better guns :(
